Kids-Friendly Restaurant: The Bank Bar & Bistro

Media Invite

When my family was invited for food-tasting at The Bank Bar & Bistro, I was a little sceptical what they can offer for families, especially when decent meal times can be the most challenging with young kids around. And can a restaurant located right smacked in Shenton Way have anything to offer for us folks with kids? So, we popped by last Saturday to check them out. Turned out to be a rather pleasant surprise.

From 1 July, they've revamped their Weekend Roast offerings, and we were there to review the dishes along with their new brunch menu. We were greeted by this colourful poster at their front entrance - See the magic words on the poster???

"Enjoy your delectable meal while our PLAYROOM entertains your kid."

Absolutely, thank you very much. I would visit this restaurant just for that word in red & bold.

Another great reason why families can consider visiting The Bank Bar & Bistro during the weekends is that a kid dines for FREE with every paying adult. That sealed the deal for me actually. Before I even tasted the food, I told myself I would be back again with other friends with kids. :P

And yes, kids' menu with good selections is a must at every kid-friendly restaurant. This is also the free meal your kid would get if you order a main course yourself. Every kids' meal come with a juice and ice-cream. Very value-for-money, don't you think?

The kids were very excited over what they wanted to order. :)

They were also promptly presented with a colouring sheet and colour pencils for pre-meal entertainment. Wonderful.

As I was mentioning earlier on, the Bank Bar & Bistro has a new brunch menu. As you can see, the prices are pretty reasonable and there are many options to choose from.

I thought the Weekend Roast menu was very reasonably-priced.

Let's check out the interiors of the restaurant!

This is possibly the area that explains why the restaurant is called the Bank Bar & Bistro. These safe boxes lookalikes are actually chillers for wines. Cool.

And currency wallpaper decked the bar counter, with lots of liquor selection because this place is very popular among the working people at Shenton Way for after-work drinks.

During the weekends however, this restaurant is a little quiet because most of the offices are closed. To me, that's just perfect for us families because we don't have to worry about our kids making too much noise and disturbing the other diners. If most of the customers are families with kids, we will feel very at home. :D

And now, check out the playroom!

It's not big, but it's got floor mats, a huge TV screening cartoons and some toys for the kids to play. This room is a private drinks lounge during weekdays, but come weekends, it gets converted into a playroom for the kids. Parents who feel that they need to watch their kids can opt to take the alfresco-dining seats just outside the playroom, and watch them through the glass walls.

I am pretty happy with our food - Everything was tasty and in rather big portions. The kids' meal look like a full adult meal actually, which is not the case in some restaurants.

Fish & Chips

Chicken bolognaise pasta - Really yummy sauce with generous chunks of minced chicken.

My order was from the Weekend Roast menu - Roast Chicken with roast potatoes. I love it!

My mother-in-law had her favourite striploin and kept praising it. I took a bite, and it was really very nicely done. Juicy and tender!

Hubby ordered the Bank Breakfast from the Weekend Brunch menu, and it was so sumptuous! Love happy-looking breakfasts like this! :)

And of course, there is always room for desserts after a meal. We ordered the Bank Pancake from the Weekend Brunch menu, and it came looking all pretty and delicious like this. It was such a joy biting into that thick fluffiness. Not exaggerating. The refreshing raspberry sauce added a wonderful touch to the dish. Really delightful!

And we absolutely forgot that our Weekend Roast main courses came with a dessert each. Thank goodness, it was a small slice of cheesecake. But it was fully packed with cheese goodness!

And the kids had ice-cream to complete their meals. Great to see effort put into the presentation of the kids' desserts as well.

What a wonderful and enjoyable family meal we had at The Bank Bar & Bistro! I would absolutely recommend the place for families to have a feast during the weekends. I love the concept, the food and the environment, and the kids would enjoy their time there as well. Check it out this weekend, won't ya? :)
