A Whimsical U Picnic 2013

Media Invite

My kids love picnics. I have no idea why and I don't know when it all began, but whenever I mention that we are going on a picnic, I get shrieks of delight and 10 seconds of jumping up and down. The truth is, I also like it. A lot. There is this really happy and relaxed feeling about sitting on a picnic mat on some grass patch and enjoying some sandwiches and stuff, and the kids playing catch just nearby.

And so, we went to the NTUC U Picnic this year. We couldn't make it to the one last year because we were overseas, but I've heard from friends that the tickets to the U Picnic were really worth it because you get a huge picnic basket full of goodies like this! I was so looking forward. Haha!

The weather was really perfect - Sun was warm and there was some winds. Just look at the number of families gathered for this whimsical picnic! The atmosphere was amazing.

Love the blue skies. The scenery was so pretty - Definitely rejuvenates my soul on a Saturday evening.

There were performances going on at the stage to entertain the crowds. Everyone's just having a good family time together. Really a heart-warming sight, if you ask me. :) I see so many families - many of them with grandparents even - all seated together on picnic mats with lots of food everywhere. Family time is so precious, and it is heartening to see so many Singaporeans who place importance on spending time together.

Every family who bought tickets to the U Picnic was given a booklet with programme line-up, layout map of the place as well as vouchers like the following. The queues were super long for the redemption of popcorn & candy floss, so my kids went straight to the fringe activity booth, where they did some acrylic painting.

The girls love art & craft anytime, especially when glitters are involved.

Thanks NTUC for putting together such an event to promote family bonding. We really should have more of such events in Singapore. :)
