I set off for Legoland Hotel Malaysia without too much expectations. In fact, I was a little worried that my kids might get bored because they were not super fans of Lego. Thankfully, by the end of the trip, we were all having so much fun that we didn’t really want to leave. If you are planning for a short trip with your kids with a limited budget, I would recommend a visit to Legoland and Water Park, with a stayover at the Legoland Hotel, and here’s 5 reasons why:
1. You can play anywhere and everywhere!
I might be a frog in a well, but I’ve never seen a hotel lobby that’s so vibrant, entertaining, fun and welcoming. What greeted us when we stepped into the lobby was big play areas filled with Lego bricks and gigantic Lego structures that made me stand there staring in awe. Just a kind reminder: Do not attempt to step into those Lego brick pools barefooted unless you want to experience what labor pains feel like. I suspect it’s dangerously near that region.
The kids ran off and disappeared into the play areas before I could even finish saying ‘Awesome’. And can I blame them?
The kids can really play in almost every area in this hotel. And I love it because I don’t have to worry about my kids making too much noise and disturbing anyone – This is a place made just for that!
The hotel reception has a backdrop full of Lego figurines. Love how everything in the hotel attempts to immerse you completely in the world of Lego. It was my first time staying at a themed hotel, and to be frank, I was loving every minute. I’m not even a Lego fan.
Love the attention paid to every detail and decor in this hotel. Just the lobby alone got me admiring every Lego art piece I saw.
Moving further into another part of the hotel lobby nearer to the cafe, there was another space with big and small Lego bricks for the kids to have fun with. The kids spent so much time here, even till close to midnight that evening!
The hotel was built very much with the kids in mind. Every corner, there was something to keep the kids entertained. I’ve seriously never seen a hotel lobby as happening as this! The kids didn’t even want to venture out of the hotel anymore.
2. Taking the lifts was SO MUCH FUN!
At Legoland Hotel, they take the lift-taking experience very seriously. Every time you step into a lift, it transforms into a mini discotheque complete with rock music and a spinning disco ball. The kids would groove and dance every single time, and even I could not resist rocking to the music! This really makes our HDB lifts feel super boring.
3. Our themed room was AMAZING!
Even after seeing so many photographs of our friends’ staycation at Legoland Hotel, I was still pleasantly surprised when I stepped into our Adventure-themed room. The whole room was so extravagantly decorated and portrayed the Adventure theme so well, we loved every inch of the room!
Separate area for adults & kids
Love it that the room was big and spacious with a king-sized bed and a bunk bed with additional third bed pull-out at the bottom. This meant that the room could comfortably fit 5 people!
The sliding door built in between the two areas meant that after the kids had fallen asleep in their bunk beds at night, the adults could still watch TV or enjoy supper without disturbing them. Each area has their own TV set as well, so no one needs to fight over which channel to watch!
The bed sheets and pillows were so cool!
Treasure hunt game
For a good 15 minutes, we were busy trying to find the combination numbers to the treasure box in our room. Joey loves playing such games! After we managed to open the box, there were mini Lego sets inside waiting for us. So awesome that we could stay in a hotel and leave with gifts even!

Pretty Lego decorations
We love all the little Lego figurines and decorations in the room. It’s pretty awesome how Lego bricks can create such art pieces!
Special basin for the little ones
I think it’s the first time I’ve seen a kid-sized basin in a hotel bathroom before, and I thought that’s such a nice gesture. Apart from the lower basin, there were also smaller plastic cups prepared for the kids’ teeth brushing. The whole family can brush their teeth and wash up at the same time in the morning! =D
The customized toiletries also made me really happy!
4. SUMPTUOUS Breakfast Spread!
Breakfast at a hotel staycation is a very important affair to me. At Legoland Hotel, the breakfast spread was very impressive! There was western selections, traditional Nasi Lemak options, porridge, salads, breads, fruits, etc. Everything tasted especially good because the whole cafe’s decorated with all kinds of pretty Lego creations! The surroundings made me feel exceptionally happy. :)
5. Legoland & Water Park Are Just Next Door!
Of course, one of the main reasons why you would even check into Legoland Hotel was because you want to have fun in Legoland and the Water Park. Do take note though – Legoland Hotel has really late check-in time compared to most hotels (I really hope this policy can be revisited though!) at 4pm. So if you are only staying one night at Legoland Hotel, plan your trip so that you can reach Legoland in the morning, leave your luggage at the hotel Concierge and head off to play in Legoland and Water Park first. If you wait until you’ve done your check-in to start playing in the theme park, you would not have much time left as the parks close at 6pm (Legoland closes on 7pm on weekends).
The next morning’s check-out time is also pretty early at 11am because the parks open for hotel guests at 9.30am and 10am to the members of the public. If you want to maximize your time in the Legoland Hotel, make sure you plan your arrival time properly. After a long day of playing in the theme parks, it’s really a wonderful feeling knowing that a nice hotel room is just waiting for you next door, isn’t it?
