Big Hero 6 Is THE Movie Of The Year! (Review & Tickets Giveaway!)

Media Preview

All I can say is – THE KIDS LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! EVERYBODY LOVES BIG HERO 6!!!!!!!!!

Pardon me while I try to regain my composure. The truth is, I didn’t expect that I would like this new movie from Walt Disney Studios, but I did. I absolutely did. I suppose I went with this mentality that Frozen was just amazing and it’s hardly possible that anything else could beat that. I wouldn’t say Big Hero 6 was better than Frozen, but it was at least on par. It’s not exactly a musical movie with lovely songs that would ring in your head days and weeks after watching it, but Big Hero 6 has got so many blockbuster elements that would make you leave the cinema thinking to yourself, ‘Gosh, that was one good movie.’ Can’t believe I would actually say that for an animation movie, but I just did.

We were extremely privileged to be able to attend a media preview of the movie, and the kids were SOOOOO EXCITED. Apparently, the TV’s been showing advertisements on the upcoming movie, and the kids were elated when they heard it was just the movie we were going to catch that afternoon. Look how happy they were when they saw…… the movie poster.

The preview was held at Bugis+ Film Garde, and there were a string of activities happening before the preview. It was obvious that the adults were just as excited as the little kids. I didn’t understand it then, but I do now after watching the movie.

Pardon Jayne’s sulk. She’s upset that she couldn’t stand next to Baymax for the photo. =P This Baymax is so adorable, everyone wants to hug it and give it a big squeeze.

Of course, she quickly snapped out of her sulk when I handed her a Baymax hat and a Baymax toy that talks! You totally need to catch the movie to appreciate what he says. =D

What would I say about the movie after watching it? Get ready for a good mix of laughter and tears. Yes, I said tears. There were scenes in the movie that would make you cry, touched and warm & fuzzy inside. Even Jayne cried!

Baymax is robot created to provide healthcare to people who are injured, and like in every movie, there is always a bad guy that needs to be defeated. Baymax did just that and saved the day. The storyline is straightforward and simple to understand, even for the very young kids, and it touched values such as sibling love, passion in life, loyalty, conviction and courage. There were many touching scenes, coupled with lots of funny lines and action-packed moves during the big fight scene at the end. All in all, I would say that Big Hero 6 is an inspiring movie that would move you and your kids. I am not surprised if kids leave the movie thinking to themselves that they want to learn Robotics and create something like Baymax one day!
