Let Me Just Do An Intro Post For 2015

It’s only legit, right?

We are in mid of January 2015, and my year has only just begun. The work year, that is. I just got back from a wonderful 5-day trip to Osaka with my buddy and it’s just been awesome and amazing – weather, food, people and shopping – everything was great. I wish I can say I now feel recharged to start my year but the truth is, I am still suffering from post-holiday blues. In any case, I’m pretty sure my engine will get warmed up very soon and before I know it, half the year’s gone.

This is the final year Jayne will be in preschool, which means by this time next year, I will be a mum of two Primary School kids! That’s scarily fast and yet exhilaratingly exciting. I don’t look forward to having to deal with teenage issues very soon, but having both kids in the same school can be a logistical (and financial) relief. Currently, Joey’s school is still having double sessions and I am not too sure if the school will go single session by next year. If they do, both girls will be in morning session together – Going to school and coming back home by the same school bus. If not, the girls will only see each other at night during the weekdays. That might make them appreciate each other more. =P

Everybody tells me that Primary Three is the beginning of some serious studying and I’m already beginning to feel the heat. Just the first week in, the girl came home and told us that every Thursday, she would have to stay back for supplementary lessons after school until 3.30pm. I initially thought it’s meant for the weaker students, but apparently, it’s for the entire P3 cohort! That’s a lot of studying for a 9yo in my opinion. Don’t tell me it’s for preparation for PSLE – I’ll roll my eyes at you. (Now, should I start sending her for tuition? gasps)

Then today, she’s having her first spelling & dictation. Last night, she casually remarked that she loves dictation. Hope she didn’t detect the smirk on my face. You don’t know what you are saying, babe. Didn’t say that in her face, of course.

And Joey has finally decided on her CCA – She’s going to be a Scout! I didn’t believe her when she came home one fine day and told me that she was going to join Scout, because isn’t Scout only for boys??! Apparently not. She thinks girl scout sounds cool, so she’d be going for her first meeting this Saturday morning – How exciting!

I used to be, ahem, a Brownie in Primary School and a Sixer at that. (For the uninitiated, in every Brownie Squad, there are 6 Sixers and 6 Seconds to lead their groups). I was a Sixer for the Sprite group. Yes, brownies are grouped under mystical creatures like gnomes, fairies, sprites, etc. I wonder how Scouts do theirs. =D My Brownie life was fun and interesting, and I learnt so much. Sure feels like the beginning of a great adventure for Big Girl! =)

On the blogging front, I’ve got quite a few fun reviews coming up so I better get right down to work! Hope to share even more good and interesting stuffs this year.

Let the year begin! =D
