Fun with Canon at Sentosa!

Media Invite

A couple of weeks back, we were invited by Canon to take part in a Family Shootout at Sentosa. Although the event didn’t turn out as expected because it rained so heavily the entire time that we could not do any of the activities planned for, we had lots of fun taking photos together.

I’ve always been a Canon camera user and I love how vibrant and sharp every photo turns out on my Canon G15. But on any typical family outing, the husband and I are the only ones armed with cameras and taking photographs. The kids have asked more than once, for a camera of their own so that they, too, can have their fair share of fun. They were so excited that day to be able to choose a camera to use for the event, and when I took out their SD cards at the end of the day, I realized to my shock that they had taken 300 photographs combined! All in a span of 2 hours. =P

I was a little worried that the younger girl won’t have as much fun because she’s not so good at handling a camera yet. But I cannot be more wrong! The camera – Canon Powershot N2 loaned to her was a PERFECT one for her. It was compact in size, very easy to use and super good for taking selfies because it comes with a flip-up screen. Jayne had so much fun taking selfies with it that even passers-by paused to look at her in amusement. I even overheard one of them whispering to her friend, “Aiyo so cute! What camera is that?? Makes taking selfies so easy peasy!” LOL!

I don’t like to boast usually, but I think my kids take pretty awesome photos. This happened to be my most favorite photo that day, taken by Joey on the Canon camera loaned to her. It was so nice that I immediately downloaded the photo onto my phone. How did I do that, you ask? The Canon cameras were wifi-enabled, that’s how!

All I needed to do was to download a Canon application onto my phone and enable the photo to be downloaded via the wifi function. I’ve always been an advocate of good photos on social media, so these wifi-enabled camera help me to post clear and sharp photos immediately. I don’t have to wait till I reach home at the end of the day to download the photos from my camera before I can share them. That’s just perfect for a(n) (impatient) blogger like me.

Take for instance our chance encounter with Santa Claus on the Sentosa Express. I took the photo on the Canon camera, downloaded it onto my phone immediately and posted it on instagram the next moment! I love it when I can share the fun that my family is having on-the-go, and as a blogger, that’s my way of sharing about fun places & events with my readers. Totally captured the essence of instagram if you ask me – Plus, the photo is high-res and looks good even without any photo-editing!

It appeared that Jayne was the one who had the most fun that day. Just look at the way she handled the Powershot N2 #likeapro:

Curious to know how her shots turned out to be?? I thought the selfies were really praise-worthy. These are raw shots without any edits or filter. :D

Thanks Canon for a day of fun – We may not have managed to complete all the tasks and covered all the attractions on Sentosa, we enjoyed ourselves with Canon cameras in hand. I’m loving it that my girls love photography just like hubby & I! =)
