Media Invite
We were invited by Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa for a Saturday of fun and feasting the weekend that just past, to celebrate the relaunch of the splash pad at their swimming pool. The kids never say NO to swimming and I never say NO to feasting, so off we went even though the skies were threatening to pour. It did pour about 10 minutes after the kids got into the pool, but not before the splash pad was declared open by the mascot froggy, Mr Toots.
It was a happy sight, with splashing waters and colourful balloons. The kids had a mission – They had to find a balloon that was marked to win a special prize.
The kids could continue swimming for a while because this part of the swimming pool was sheltered, thankfully! It would be such a dampener if they could not play in such a fun-looking pool with their friends.
Such joy and happiness hanging out with friends ….. until everyone had to get out of the pool because the rains started to get really heavy. The kids were promptly whisked to the Kids’ Club and nobody complained. But of course, this is Rasa Sentosa’s Kids’ Club we are talking about. They have one of the best ones around, with dedicated and fun-loving staff to play games with the kids. Then again, looks like we need to come back again soon to Rasa Sentosa because the kids didn’t have enough time at the splash pad!
After a fun afternoon, everyone was famished and we were treated to a sumptuous buffet dinner at the Silver Shell Cafe. I was told that they serve a different buffet spread every day! On Saturday nights, they serve up a really good seafood buffet spread – So glad we were there for that – I LOVE SEAFOOD!
The lovely thing about Silver Shell Cafe is that there are special corners for kids and even babies! The Kids’ Corner has everything available at kids’ height. This is to make it easy for them to get their own food without the parents’ help. All the dishes available at this corner are also kid-friendly such as pasta, fried rice, fruits and juices. Apart from being able to choose the food they want to eat, it was also really fun when they could do it with their friends. I had fun watching them fill up their dishes on their own!
I was just mentioning about the Baby’s Corner at Silver Shell Cafe – It’s new and caters to the needs of parents who have babies. Apart from bottle warmers, sterilizers, wet wipes, microwave etc, parents can also feed their babies with the Heinz bottled baby food provided free-of-charge by the cafe. So much convenience and considerateness for parents! I would certainly feel very loved if I am a mum to a young baby. Thumbs up for their meticulous service. :)
Now, what’s available for the adults in the buffet? I don’t even think I need to say much – The photos say it all. It was a seafood extravaganza, with so much options I didn’t have enough room in my tummy to try everything!
This was one of my most favorite dishes in the buffet. The clams were cooked on the spot by the chef upon request. They were so juicy and sweet in a broth of ginger and onions. Such a tummy pleaser!
Seafood lovers would go crazy here at the choices available – Lobsters, prawns, crabs, clams, mussels, escargots, etc. And not to mention, beautifully presented as well.
This Tower of prawns was such a pretty sight that many of the guests were taking photos with it. =D Super fresh and succulent too!
Oh yes, this chocolate fondue fountain got quite a few kids screaming when they passed by it.
The grilled seafood section was impressive as well – They’ve got huge grilled prawns, salmon, mussels, squids and chicken wings!
The roast beef was done perfectly with potatoes and lots of onions and garlic!
The Indian food section cannot be missed as well. I lost count of the number of freshly-toasted naans I had with the perfect fish curry. Burp.
As you are having your dinner, Rasa Sentosa’s in-house band mesmerizes with their soothing tunes. It was my 2nd time listening to them and I really like their voices!
Thank you Rasa Sentosa for a lovely Saturday of fun and feast. Hope to go back again for another staycation! :)
