I apologise for this completely irrelevant photo!
Have been so busy recently that I haven't been taking new photos. This one on the supermarket trolley is the only new one I can find, =P
Although Joey hasn't learnt how to stand or walk yet (which I desperately wished she would, altho I know I would be alot busier then!), I am comforted that she has displayed signs that she has been observing and registering the things that we do. It also shows that she has developed her memory skills such that she can repeat certain actions in a given set of conditions. Haha! I sound like a mathematician! keke.. can't stand myself sometimes..
Well, the funniest of all is that she has learnt how to listen to the phone or handphone, like we do. When we hand her a handphone, or she has a chance to pick up our house phone, she would immediately put it to her ear and say a loud 'Eh!' Then she would pause and listen before taking it off her ear and look at the phone. Then repeats action again with the 'Eh!'. Haha! Super funny! U got to see that action yourself one day!
She has seen us do the same actions so many times that she can now do it herself. Of couse, there were instances where whatever we pass to her, as long as it loosely resembles a longish thing, she would think it's a phone and put it to her ear. And of course say the loud 'Eh!'. Or, there would be times when she would put the phone to her forehead and utter the 'Eh!' again. In such situations, I would always ask her, 'Huh? Is that your ear??!' hahaha..
Another thing she is learning to do now is to pull out her pacifier cap from her pacifier and putting it back. It's no easy feat, you know! And she often does not succeed in doing it correctly. It requires alot of coordination between both hands, and the fingers and turning everything in the correct direction because it would be a successful mission. She would keep trying to do it and sometimes she can, sometimes she can't, and so she would cry when she can't.Haha!
I am thinking of getting this toy that we all played before. It's a hexagon kind of thing with holes in different shapes on it - Circles, Squares, Triange.. and the kids can match their different shaped blocks and try to slot them into the hexagon with the correct shape, You know which one I am talking about right??! Think that toy would help her learn her coordination much faster.
The auntie in the nursery has been asking her everyday, 'Show me your hands..., Show me your toes....' And so that day in the nursery, I witnessed Joey responding to her! When she said, 'Where are your hands? Show me...', Joey actually lifted up her 2 hands, looked at it, then wriggled it! Same with her toes! I am amazed ok?! Very amazed... Hee... and of course, very proud of my smart daughter!
Things are developing fast everyday. Once they hit 1 and a half, they would suddenly begin to learn many new words everyday. You just need to point to something and say its name, your baby will repeat after you. Wah... that would be so exciting! I want to see her utter something much more intellient than , 'mum mum..mum mum..' (yeh, it means eat, not mother ok! Hmmphhhh! Till today, I still cannot accept this heartless truth...)
