A Saga

A mini saga happened last Tue night.

Isaiah was sick, so I brought Joey with me to leaders' meeting. I kept thinking to myself everything is going to be alright. Joey will be so captivated with my talking that she wouldn't make any noise. But like the Murphy's Law, anything that can go wrong went wrong,

It started off with me taking a cab to YMCA with Evan & Baoting. When we alighted from the cab, Evan forgot to take out Joey's bag in the boot. She probably thought it was the taxi driver's haversack & couldn't imagine my baby owning such a bag. Haha!

Immediately, I called back Comfort to contact the taxi driver. I have the receipt with me, so it was easy. But who knows the driver managed to get another customer immediately after he dropped us! He can't turn back immediately cos he needs to drive the passenger to his destination. Can't get any worse? WRONG! The taxi was heading for YISHUN!

Joey's bag is my most prized possession now with all the necessities inside, so you can imagine how difficult it was to pacify Joey. Her pacifier, her biscuits and handkerchief are all inside! Worst of all, it was time for Joey to drink milk! I even had the wishful thinking that at least she would keep quiet till I finished briefing the leaders all the admin. Like I said, it's really 'wishful'.

I placed Joey in her pram next to me as I started to brief my leaders. After the 3rd item, she started to whine. With every sentence I say, she will 'AH!' It became such a rhythm that my leaders started to laugh. They probably didn't pay attention to what I said! Haha! I had to stop with each sentence to tell Joey to "shhhh,,, mummy is working,, give mummy a while, ok?"

OF COURSE IT'S NOT OK! She just kept whining until one of the leaders came over to play with her. She's a pre-school teacher ok?! How blessed to have a pre-school teacher with me. I sped through all my admin briefing.

After my admin, I kept calling Comfort Taxi company because it's been half an hour and the taxi driver hadn't called me! Finally I managed to get hold of the taxi driver, but he was not willing to come back to YMCA! Understandable since he was ending his day, and he was at Yishun. No choice, I had to 'bribe' him with the promise to pay him for his meter fare from Yishun to YMCA! Sigh... I see a vision of my money flying away with wings. *sobs*

Finally the taxi driver arrived (another half an hour later), and Joey got her milk. By this time, she was already near screaming. The taxi driver went on and on about how he could not understand why we would forget the bag... how he had offered to help me with my things but i told him no need,,. blah blah... nagging in a nice way lah... Me? I was just glad to get my bag back and give my baby her milk.

This was probably the first time in my life I wished I had breastfed my baby. Then, it'd be a ready supply all the time! Hehe.. no worries about a lost baby bag anymore!
