You know, I used to think, as a teenager & watching parents with kids, why parents would buy ugly clothes, bags & shoes for their kids. By ugly, I mean merchandises with cartoon characters on them - ninja turtles, barney, mickey mouse, spiderman, barbie.. etc etc. I always look at kids wearing them and pity them for having parents with such lousy taste. I mean, when I become a parent, I would dress my kid in style! No cartoon characters whatsoever! That's bad style, ok?
But now that I am a parent myself, I am so horrified that I have started to take a liking to such merchandises! I mean, when I see my Joey getting all excited seeing a barney t-shirt, or shoes, I would think of buying it for her. And I would be so convinced that she would look so cute in them. What happened to the fashion high-class senses I had then?!
I guess I understand why now. We may not like those things with all the bo liao cartoon characters, but we want our kids to be happy. We want them to feel happy that they own something they like. Joey recognises Barney, so when she's wearing a Barney T-shirt, she'll be so happy! So, much to my horrors, I am seriously thinking of buying a Barney haversack for her when she can walk steadily. I've seen it in many places. It's totally purple & comes stuck with a barney infront. How cool!!! kekeke...
