Can We Ever Eat In Peace?

\

I thought I haven't blogged for a very long time, until I checked the date of my last entry, and it was only last week. Then again, the reason for not blogging for so long is because I have nothing but bad things to say about Joey, and just in case she reads this blog in future and decides to throw me to the old folks' home, that will be the end of me. Still, I've convinced myself that the 'bad' things are also part & parcel of growing up and should be documented as well. A woe shared is halved. I hope.

And so, nowadays, there is no way we can eat in peace as long as we bring Joey out. Long gone were the days when she would sit still in her highchair and play with a little toy by herself while we eat. Now, she would only allow herself to stay in the chair for about 5 minutes, then she would struggle to get out of it. If she can't, she would scream at the top of her voice. Otherwise, should insist on feeding herself (usually rice), and then get rice all over herself and the chair. If it's just that, I am ok. I can just clean her up after the whole thing. But she picks up fallen pieces from the chair and her clothes to eat! And so, I got to keep sweeping away the grains so that she doesn't any germs & what-nots.

Had a disastrous experience eating steamboat with some friends the other day. She was whining & fussing so much throughout the dinner that I just felt so bad for my friends. They could have enjoyed a decent meal, but they had to endure her loud wails, screams. Isaiah and I had to take turns to eat and bring her out for walks. Sigh, such a tiring meal.

And so, we made a pact. As long as she doesn't learn to behave herself, we will not bring her into another steamboat restaurant.

It used to be that I love to bring her out with me in her stroller, either shopping or go find something nice to eat. Now, I have alot of apprehensions about it, cos her patience level is so low! She gets impatient within 5 minutes & will insist on her way by screaming and shouting, which is so unbecoming for a lady. Takes alot of effort to pacify her each time.

Yah, I know this phase will pass, but I just pray that it will pass faster!!!
