Had nothing planned for today, so I brought my girls back to my parents’ place to chill. It turned out to be a pretty fun day…
BECAUSE JOEY MADE BIG BUNS! Yes, 大包!
More about that in a while, but now, I’m going to show you some cute fluffy darlings!
These are my brother’s pet hamsters and he has been taking care of them for about a year. He taking care is an understatement because most of the time, my parents are the ones taking care of them, as my brother flies all the time virtue of his job as an air steward.
Joey has a love-hate relationship with them. While she loves to watch them and talks to them, she does not dare to go too near or feed them, which is a good thing too, because one of them is known to be rather hostile (he bites!), and it’s hard to tell the 2 hamsters apart- don’t know which is the nice hammie and which is the unfriendly hammie.
My mum loves to follow recipes and try cooking different things all the time. Today, she wanted to make big buns!
Here’s the trustworthy recipe book!
My mum guides Joey in preparing everything for Project Make-A-Big-Bun! First, marinating the meats and mushrooms.
When you homemake buns, you naturally put in lots of fav ingredients!
Hardboiled eggs!
Mushrooms! oh my love!!!!
And this, is the filling for the big buns – chicken, pork, mushrooms & water chestnut. All fried to fragrant perfection!
Time to make the skin for the big buns!
The dough is done! Separately into 12 small doughs so that we can make a dozen of big buns!
Joey rolls them flat with a rolling pin…
And the final step is of course to put the fillings onto the flattened skin..
Tada! Ready to be steamed & eaten! =D
While we had fun making the buns, Baby Jayne was just enjoying the cool breeze lying on a mattress by herself in the living room. She actually fell asleep twice all on her own (without pacifier & without mummy’s patting) during the whole time! It was just a lazy relaxed afternoon for her. :)
Joey had loads of fun too, like she always did whenever she’s at Grandma’s house. :)
And me? I just relax while my mummy cooks lunch for me, and feeds my daughter while I eat in peace! I swear I didn’t make her do all that… =P
Happy Saturday. :))
