Since a while ago, we have resorted to keeping Joey’s toys in containers because there are just too many of them lying around. We even had to put them into containers meant for different categories – She has a container for doll houses, a container for play doh and tools, a container for lego bricks, a container for figurines etc.
Everyday, she takes out a different container to go through and play. It’s good because she plays a different container each day and the novelty is always there. She especially loves the feeling of digging into the container and discovering a toy she has not seen in a long time. It’s very much like how we women dig into discount corners and find a really nice bag on huge discount. Like we found a treasure.
This is the container for soft toys.
Since Joey is not really a avid lover of soft toys, I tried to make it a more fun experience for her by asking her to play a simple game – Match the soft toys according to their type. Match the dogs with the dogs, kangaroos with the kangaroos, Elmo with Elmo etc. Yes, she has that many soft toys of the same kind.
It turned out to be rather educational. She would take out a toy, announce its name, then proceed to find its similar kind. And I took the opportunity to teach her names of animals she didn’t know like hippo and koala bear.
She had fun sorting them. :)
To those that she only had 1 piece of, she announced, ‘She is all alone.’ haha!
Mei Mei was not spared from it as well. She was just seated innocently nearby watching Jie Jie play, but was made to wear the cap of one of the soft toys. =P
