Bintan: Somewhere Over The Rainbow

One of the biggest surprise we got at the Bintan trip was that we spotted one & a half FULL rainbows!

You must understand how exciting this is for us Singaporeans. All we see in Singapore (if we are lucky enough to see any) are half rainbows and fast fading ones. Plus, rainbows are reminders of God’s everlasting love for us! Just looking at them makes you feel loved! I assure you the photos do not do justice to the wonderfulness and highly-defined rainbows we saw that day!

The rainbows! God’s wonderful creation!

Is this awesome or what??? IMG_9755

Everyone just snapped and snapped and snapped… with no self control whatsoever.

It was a bright & sunny day, and the strong sun beams made everything look so alive & beautiful!

Now, we all predicted some fairies probably landed in that bungalow. =)

And wasn’t there an old saying that goes, ‘At the end of the rainbow, there’s a pot of gold’? Maybe we should have made our way to that bungalow to check it out. =P

Alright, I hope you got sick of rainbows by now, because in reality, the beautiful rainbows we saw lasted no more than 15 minutes before it faded bit by bit into the clear blue sky. Then again, what a wonderful 15 minutes we had. We were so glad we caught the kairos moment! Ha! =P

It’s now befitting to move on to one of the last portions of this trip. We had a barbeque! There was a BBQ pit just next to our swimming pool, and it made no sense that we don’t use it. So, even though the BBQ package was pretty expensive (the cheapest package was $190 for 6 pax), we still ordered it. People on vacations have no sense of logic and clarity of mind at all, I admit.

Yes, it was that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow raw meat on the bench. We literally rolled our eyes at it when it was delivered. In our package of $190, we were given 6 chicken wings (SIX FOR GOODNESS’ SAKE!!), beef slices, large prawns (more than 6 thankfully), sotong, baked potatoes, garlic bread, sweet corn and some coleslaw of some kind. Tell me we are ROBERTS. Yes, I know we are.

The only nice thing they did was to lay a table cloth on our outdoor dining table and set up the condiments accordingly.

In the end, we figured it was too warm to dine outdoors & moved our food to the air-conditioned living room. So much for setting up the table, thank you very much. =.=

Because there were 8 mouths to feed, we cooked additional maggie mee so that at least our stomach can be filled.

Everyone was probably the happiest with the baked potatoes, because there were sour cream and bacon bits provided as well. And we didn’t have to BBQ them – They came cooked to perfection.

Felt pretty cheated by the whole BBQ deal, but at least the marinated meats tasted good.

This pretty much wrapped up the whole 3D2N Bintan trip for us. Joey spent a lot of time swimming and watching DVDs (The player was a life-saver!), while Baby Jayne spent a lot of time strolling around the coffee table. =)

It was tiring taking care of the kids, but it was also a good time to bond with them. =) Both kids slept every night by 10pm, and slept through without making any noise during the night!=) I managed to steal some me-time hanging out with my pals on the 1st night chatting till the wee hours in the morning!

We left Bintan the next day feeling a little empty in our pockets but rejuvenated and happy. Thank God for vacations!
