I am on a mission. To scare my daughter out of her wits.
Like seriously.
My Joey is born of a really complicated personality, if I may say so. She may be very bubbly, outgoing, talkative and flamboyant, but she’s scared of the littlest thing you can ever imagine. She’s hyperactive, jumps up and down all the time, and gets all bored when she has nothing to do for 5 minutes. Yet, she is such a scaredy cat and gets scared at virtually everything.
If I bring her for a movie (cartoons only), she may even have nightmares at night because she dreamt of the witch who snatched the princess away from the castle. The latest movie I brought her to was SMURFS, and guess what? Even though she enjoyed the movie tremendously, she dreamt of Gargamel the same night and woke up telling me how scared she was of the movie. =.= Seriously roll eyes.
She’s scared of public speaking, public performance of any sort, and would often refuse to participate in activities unfamiliar to her. And so, I am really planning to bring her for activities that would take her out of her comfort zone and become a bolder and more courageous girl. I always believe that self-confidence can go a long way for a person. It’s vital.
And so, since I’m on this mission, I decided to bring Joey ICE-SKATING! Haha! I knew it would scare the wits out of her, and she might whine and cry, but I was prepared for all that. I wanted to stretch her in every way possible. Hopefully, it will make her less of a scaredy cat, and not miss out on so many wonderful experiences in life.
Brought Joey on the Circle Line for the first time. =) Alighted at Stadium station.
Kallang Leisurepark, here we come!
Joey was actually excited about it when I told her we were going ice-skating. My heart skipped a beat – Would this be the beginning of an undiscovered talent??!
It was not as expensive as I imagined! 2 hours for only $14 for adults, and $13 for children. Not too bad eh?
Woohooo gloves for Joey! =D (But she was not pleased that it was grey and not pink. Grey and black are big no-no for her.)
Oh my, I love ice-skating!!! Looking at the rink excites me!!! =D
We collected our ice-skating shoes! Opps, black again. Joey’s countenance was dropping by the minute…. LOL!
She looked quite pale, didn’t she??
Nevertheless, she was doing very well already! Usually by now, she’d have told me that she didn’t want to go to the rink at all. But she still let me put on her shoes and gloves, and even posed happily with me! =D Breakthrough, breakthrough!!!
And tada! I managed to get her onto the ice!!!!! She looked so cute on ice! =)
Thank God for these kids’ holding bars. Totally helpful!! I pushed Joey along from the back and we managed to move along with the help of it. By the time we skated half a round in the rink, Joey had slipped and fallen twice on her butt, and she was close to tears when she begged me to bring her out. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Alright, I did expect that, didn’t I? And she had actually exceeded my expectations already by being willing to go onto the ice and even skated half a round with me. To me, it’s already a feat and definitely a step out of her comfort zone. =P Even though we didn’t do as much skating as I wished that day, it was an experience I went through with Joey. Still precious. =)
And I’ll keep trying!!!!! =D
