Barely after a two-day rest in Singapore after a Staff Retreat at Bintan, we set off to yet another zone retreat at Johor Bahru, Pulai Springs Resort. This time round, I only brought Baby Jayne along as Joey was going to fly to Penang with my mother-in-law for a short vacation!
Pulai Springs Resort is a very popular venue for church camps, mainly because it’s conveniently located at just a 20-minute drive from the Singapore-JB Causeway. Plus, they charge really reasonable rates for conference packages. With that, of course, one cannot expect too high standards of service or quality of food. Managing expectations is the key! It didn’t turn out too bad.
Just a look-a-round Pulai Springs Resort! As it’s a golf resort, it’s a resort that occupies a vast and huge area of land. Love the greenery and landscaping in that resort. That’s a really important ingredient of a good resort. =)
The only issue with this venue is possibly because it’s so huge that sometimes you need to take a buggy to the place you are going to. All our meals were consumed in a different building from the accommodation block, so we were praying for no rain all the time. Otherwise, it’d be so troublesome especially with kids around.
What I really like about Pulai Springs Resort is that they have many suites to cater to large groups of guests. They have rooms ranging from Studio King to one-bedroom suites, two-bedroom suites, even up to four-bedroom suites! Imagine coming with your entire family clan or large groups of friends, it’d be very fun to live in one big house together! The living rooms in the suites can be great for gatherings. This time round, we were allocated a one-bedroom suite, and it was just perfect. Baby could sleep quietly in the room, while we chilled and watched TV in the living area, with a kitchenette even! =D
It was not my first time at Pulai Springs Resort, but this time round, we got allocated a room at Level 3, where the garden was located, and I was thrilled to find that our balcony door opens out to the garden outside! Only 6 rooms have access to the garden! =)
Most of the time, you don’t really find anyone in the garden. Perhaps the other guests hadn’t realised this gem? LOL! Anyway, it was nice taking a nice stroll and rest in our ‘private’ garden. It was very peaceful and quiet. =)
Baby Jayne fell sick during the retreat and we spent a lot of time resting in the room. So we were really thankful that we got such a great room! Great time of bonding for us as well! =)
Retreats for the year are over and now, I’m looking forward to CHRISTMAS! =D
