Seriously speaking, bringing toddlers to a super crowded and packed place is no joke. You may go with great enthusiasm and smiles, but you are likely going to leave the place overly exhausted and even frustrated. Yet, we still do this every year - We visit the Chinatown Chinese New Year market!
The place is always packed with people, and you slowly navigate through the crowd while looking at the titbits and little CNY knick knacks offered by the stalls on both sides. The whole place is filled with loud voices of stall-owners, calling out to the customers. It’s a joyous place! And because it’s really crowded, Baby Jayne has to be carried by Papa Isaiah, otherwise she’d be breathing in really stale air at her level, and look at different people’s butts & legs and nothing else. =X
My kids are pretty intrigued by things sold in the stalls. I would be too, quite frankly!
Joey couldn’t resist and went to touch the 银柳 and said it’s very soft & like cotton! Haha..
Bird’s nest fruit jellies are the in products at the market this year!
One of my hubby’s fav CNY titbits. =)
Learnt something new this year: Peanuts come in different colours! This is the Black King Kong peanuts! (very yummy by the way!)
And this the Red-skinned peanut.. very similar to the normal peanuts we usually eat.
Both my girls love peanuts!!
Love this pure white statue was standing against a dirty yellow gate. =D
Settling down for some desserts after some walking around is a must-do every year too!
I think this shop sells one of the best 杨枝甘露 around!
Strawberry snow ice! So pretty-looking.
Joey had black sesame paste – quite obvious ya?? =P
After desserts, we continued people-watching and walking the streets. =D
Another of my girls’ favourite titbits is melon seeds. =)
Saw a basket of dried crackers being sunned.. =)
And passed by this red door with traditional door handles. Like.
My absolute favourite 年糕!!!
Ooooooh so love Chinese New Year!!!
