Thanks to ArtSense, my kids were invited to their Open House trial class last Sunday, along with 5 of my readers & friends’ kids. The place was small and cosy, and because ArtSense believes in creating art and craft pieces using recycled materials, you will find many old tissue boxes, toilet rolls, plastic bottles and cardboards everywhere. I like it that the whole space was so colourful and vibrant – Exactly what would inspire children to be creative and bold. =)
At ArtSense, kids are encouraged to recreate their art pieces using materials that can be found anywhere in the house. The art classes cater to children between 3 to 12 years old.
Joey’s all dressed in her apron and ready to start creating her art piece!
Baby Jayne took her seat with another girl and started painting as well. Her ‘task’ for the day was to create a vehicle with recycled tissue box and toilet rolls as wheels. =)
As the girls started on their art pieces, I went around snapping photos of the little knick knacks in the little art studio. It’s a lovely little space, I say!
Joey’s task was to build a city!
Baby Jayne enjoyed painting so much. It must be liberating to be able to brush the colours onto the tissue box, without Mummy nagging at her every second not to get the paint onto her clothes. =P It was obvious she was having a lot of fun! =)
I was impressed that Baby Jayne was very focused on her task and patiently covered the entire tissue box evenly with paint. =)
Joey, on the other hand, started on her city creation. Her piece involved cutting, painting and sticking of glitters!
It’s always great to get the girls involved in creative work. I loved watching them getting busy with their hands, and seeing how they translate their ideas into the art pieces they create. My kids may be hyperactive most of the time, but when it comes to art and craft, they can sit still and complete with concentration and spirit of excellence - I’ve got amazing kids! Haha!
The final art pieces at the end of the one-hour trial class. Thank you ArtSense, for inspiring the J Babies to be creative and learn how to make use of simple materials around the house that might otherwise be thrown away, to be made into art pieces. Most importantly, the kids had a fun Sunday afternoon. =D
