A Yearly Visit To The River Hongbao

Since a couple of years back, it's been a yearly tradition for my family to visit the River Hongbao.

I don't think it is a particularly exciting event, but virtue of the fact that it's the Lunar New Year, I usually don't mind soaking in the cheena atmosphere a little more. We usually go on the 3rd or 4th day of the New Year, so it was always crazily crowded. This year though, we went only on the last day of the event, so the crowds were not as bad. I noticed though that there were more stalls selling traditional food from China this year. Check out this particular stall that drew much attention from the crowd:

Mainly because of the star of the event - this babe that was cut up portion by portion throughout the night. =X

The lovely skyscrapers of Shenton Way are always the backdrop for the event. Pretty skyline we have in Singapore. :)

As per past years, the whole display was full of colourful lights and of the various Chinese Zodiac signs.

And what we will do every year is to let the girls take photographs with their zodiac signs. This year, the zodiac signs were all housed inside an antique vase each. We gave up trying to explain to the kids which animal they got allocated to, because that was really not the main point. Pretty hilarious when Jayne went around chanting, '我是牛!我是牛!" =P

If you did not manage to make a trip down to River Hongbao, check out what you missed, and perhaps you can plan for a trip next year! :)
