Sentosa Flowers 2013

Media Invite

It's amazing how fast it's been one year since we last saw the Sentosa Flowers. Chinese New Year is coming again, and this year, Sentosa Flowers is back on an even bigger scale with more fringe activities and events. This event was birthed in 2005 by Sentosa and showcases the wonders of creation with thousands of tropical and spring flowers in a myriad of species presented in a natural outdoor setting. I still have vivid memories of how beautiful and colourful the flowers were at last year's event.

We were happy to be invited again this year to check out the event before it's officially open to members of the public on 9 Feb 2013. Although the main gardens were still undergoing preparation for the official opening, the kids had a chance to see one of the main highlights of the event - The Glittering Sandy Snake Trail. This is a snake sculpture created by Staff Volunteers from Sentosa, led by renowned sand sculptor JOOHeng. Apparently, this sculpture is the longest snake sculpture according to the Singapore Book of Records, and the kids had the chance to be a part of this record-breaking event by decorating a part of the snake sculpture with coloured sands. How interesting!

This is the snake sculpture - Pretty amazing, isn't it??

The kids were absolutely excited to see these pots of coloured sands. They can't wait to get down to work! :)

See the little kiddos hard at work, collecting their coloured sands for their artwork.

I always love activities that allow my kids to tap on their creativity. I love the designs they created!!

Viola! The plain snake has been given a colourful coat of coloured sands by the kids. Lovely.

After the kids were done with their coloured sands creations, we were brought to the Port of the Lost Wonder for the kids to get their hands dirty once more, and this time round, they were taught how to make their own potted plants. :)

The kids paid attention to the instructions given, and created their potted plants, which we brought home.

Look how dirty their hands got, but obviously had lots of fun judging by the smiles on their faces. :) The kids were told to water them twice a day, and they have been very faithful at taking care of their plants so far.

Thank you Sentosa for the invitation - We'll be back to catch the Sentosa Flowers once everything's open! :) If you are interested to find out more, click here.
