Media Invite

If you or your kids are fans of Hi-5, be very excited because……….. HI-5 LIVE SHOW IS BACK IN TOWN!!!!

The “Hi-5 House Party” will run at the MasterCard Theatres on 20-22 December 2013. This newly created show features Stevie, Lauren, and Dayen as they welcome their newest Hi-5 friends Mary and Ainsley, to the stage to transport audiences to the most fun filled place in the world – their fabulous new “Hi-5 House”. Young audiences will experience a dance party extravaganza with lots of music and party games and non-stop dancing. Yes! Just like what we always watch on TV – expect many kids to be dancing at the front together with the cast!

If you are part of the over-100,000 fans on Facebook for the show, you might remember that a shout-out was given to ask about your favorite songs. Gathering the feedback from the fans, the show will feature Hi-5’s most popular song line-up. Hi-5ers Stevie, Lauren, Mary, Dayen, and Ainsley will perform favorites such as L.O.V.E, Ready or Not and Wish Upon a Star. Audiences of Hi-5 House Party will be among the first to hear their new songs such as Dance with the Dinosaurs and Come on In from their upcoming revamped TV series, “Hi-5 House”, which premiered orldwide in Australia and New Zealand on 6 December.

These are the songs that have been lined up for the show! Not only are my kids familiar with some of these tunes, I am too!! My favorite is “Wish Upon A Star”! I even know the dance moves (True story). #dontjudgemeplease

And since I was very excited about the show, I sent some interview questions over to the cast and one long-standing cast (Stevie) & one new cast ( Mary) replied!

1.     What are some of the highlights of this show that the kids can look forward to?

S: I think for one it's a lovely opportunity for kids and families to meet the newer members of the group. Ainsley and Mary and to a lesser extent Dayen are new faces for the children to be introduced to and it's been amazing how well they have been received so far. Each of them brings a fantastic new skill set to the group!

M: Getting to meet the new cast of Hi-5! The show is written to be like one big party to celebrate the new Hi-5 House! So All the kids and parents should get ready to sing, dance, play lots of games and have heaps of FUN!

2.     Some of the Hi-5 main casts are new for this show – How is the chemistry like in this new group?

S: The chemistry is great. Lots of laughs and lots of excitement around the group which makes it a very special time for us all. I think ultimately we all realize what a special job we play in children's and families lives and it's hard not to stay happy when you are in that environment.

M: The chemistry works very well. The older members are a great support and have a lot of hi-5 wisdom to share with us newbies. We all love to play around and joke with each other which keeps it fun and exciting!

3.     What do you think are the reasons why Hi-5 has remained one of the most popular shows among the kids for so many years?

S: I think one of the main reasons is our music. It's remained relevant to children throughout the years which is great. We have managed to evolve while still keeping the true purpose of Hi-5. Children everywhere no matter how rich or poor just want to have fun and I believe at hi-5 that's what we strive to create every day.

M: Children all around the world just want to have fun! Hi-5 brings that in the most basic form where all we do it play lots of games, sing and dance and just focus on the happy things in life!

4.     Did you have fun rehearsing for the show? Any funny or interesting moments to share with us?

S: Yes the rehearsal process was a fun one. A lot of work shopping characters and improvisation. I had a lot of fun with a character Limbo man.

M: We always have lots of fun especially when travelling with the show. Long plane and car rides allow us to play lots of funny games. One tour game we always play is called 'the game of life': whenever someone says the word "mine", they have to get down and do 10 man push-ups no matter when or where we are!! It can even happen during a show! Sounds easy but trust me.... My arms have never looked so muscular!!

5.     What are some of the challenges faced while putting this show together?

S: One of the greatest challenges is the physical impact on our bodies. Each show is an hour and a half an we do three of them a day and then have meet and greets with 200 people after every show so they are long days but we do look forward to the challenge.

M: I guess the only challenge in touring a show is to make sure it is received well in every city and country we visit. We find the overseas cities love more songs in the show while Australian cities like a bit more of a storyline. With our show Hi-5 House Party we manage to cater both by having many songs including some old favourites whilst also sharing the journey of the new cast and getting to know them better.

6.     Do you get a sense of fulfillment by doing this show? What keeps you going on?

S: Yeah absolutely I don't think I would be doing this if it wasn't for those moments of joy that you see on a child's face. The children are what keep you going! They have an awesome way of looking at the world and I very much enjoy working in that environment.

M: I love doing this show as it celebrates both old and new areas of Hi-5. It still bewilders me every day that I am in the show and all the amazing things I get to do and see! The one thing that keeps me going no matter what are the children. Seeing their happy faces and hearing their excitement during the show is so contagious! Who wouldn't be happy when you have thousands of smiling children wanting to play with you!

This is a show you don’t want to miss. :)
