Mealtimes can be very stressful if the kids get rowdy and impatient, so kid-friendly cafes and restaurants are godsend for parents. Recently, we were invited Timbre at Gillman Barracks for their Saturday Social BBQ event, which takes place every first Saturday of the month. The venue itself is already suitable for leisure family dining, but on their Saturday Social BBQ days, there are even activities prepared for kids to keep them entertained while waiting for the food to be served.
Love the ambience of Timbre at Gillman – It’s alfresco, and the lightings are soft and cosy.
There were Hanna painting and temporary tattoo art for the kids, as well as coloring sheets and origami activities.
The atmosphere was so relaxed in that place and I just love the aroma of BBQ food in the air! Weekends ought to be so! :)

Ordering at Timbre is via the IPAD attached at every table. Just browse through their menu and click on the dishes you would like to order. Once you are done, send your orders straight to the kitchen! Very convenient!
While the kids were having a ball of time at the various activity tables, our food was served. We enjoyed our dinner very much – Everything was so yummy! Perhaps it was the ambience, or the relaxed mode we were in, or the food was really well done. Either case, we had a great time.
I love how the food was served on wooden trays – Makes it feel like a really relaxing BBQ gathering of some sort!

Very succulent and juicy and went perfectly with the side salad.
Bolognaise Pasta
Seriously one of the better bolognaise I’ve tried.

Really crispy. So sinful but ooh so good.
Look at my happy kids enjoying their food! (Because the faster they finish, the earlier they can return to the play. LOL!)
Apart from the indoor activities, there were other activities set up for the kids outdoors on the open garden too. It was really nice to be able to kick a ball, run around and have fun with the little toys provided. There were even staff there to mingle and play with the kids! Thumbs up for good service. :)
It was so heartwarming seeing the parents and their kids having fun together outdoors – Precious bonding time indeed.
On the side, there was a mini percussion lesson going on, and Jayne had fun learning how to play with her drums! So much fun. =)
