I’ll be the first to admit that I feel miserable without internet connection when I am overseas. First of all, I need Google maps to help me navigate around places I’m not too familiar with. Secondly, there is always a joy when I can share my travel experiences with my friends and readers on-the-go. There were trips I made when I thought of saving costs by not getting any wireless routers or overseas SIM cards, and I regretted it every time. It’s just not the same when I take all the photos and share them only at night when I get back to my hotel and get WIFI connection. The ‘that-moment’ feeling was gone and the instagram post would just be different.

I prefer that everything is well taken care of before the trip, so that I have one thing less on my mind. After a long flight, I am usually exhausted and want to get out of the airport to my hotel as soon as possible. This was especially true for my most recent trip to Taipei - I had two mothers and two daughters with me, and I wanted to avoid any situation of delay. Trust me, grouchy elderly and kids are not fun(ny) at all.

The counters are located conveniently at every Terminal at Changi Airport, so just opt to collect at the terminal that you would be departing from. The entire collection took me less than a minute and the staff handed me a folder with the router and simple instructions enclosed. Using the router was even easier – All I needed to do was to switch on the WIFI function on my phone, connect to the right WIFI network and key in the password (all the info’s labeled clearly on the router itself), and I am good to go. That means that I would have WIFI connection the moment I land in Taipei – how convenient! It’s hassle-free even for people like me who’s not so tech-savvy.
If you are concerned about whether the WIFI connection is stable – Let me tell you loud and clear, “IT IS!” I was initially skeptical about it as well, because I’ve used some other WIFI devices before and the connection was often sporadic and unstable. The wireless router from Changi Recommends, however, was stable with strong signal that gave me steady connection throughout my entire trip. Even when we were standing on the top of a cliff at Yeliu at the outskirts of Taipei City, the signal did not drop once!
Reason #3: Connect Up to 5 Devices!
When I was considering whether to opt for an overseas SIM card or a wireless router, I chose the latter eventually because up to 5 devices can connect to the router at any one time! That’s perfect for me because my husband, Joey, two mums and I can connect our phones to it altogether! I can even connect my laptop to it when I need to get some urgent work done overseas – How convenient! That makes the wireless router the most economical option for me for my family trip.
And so, all thanks to the wireless router from Changi Recommends, I shared many photos during my Taipei trip on Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, and shared my travel joys with my friends on-the-go. Many friends told me that they felt like they were on the trip with me, haha! For me personally, that’s really part of the joys of travelling – Sharing what I did, ate and saw.
