I know it doesn’t even sound logical, but yes – WE ARE GOING TO HAVE OUR FIRST WINTER RUN HERE IN SINGAPORE! Somebody SCREAMMMMMMMMMM!
Some of you may have heard of the iconic UK Winter Run series, but here in Singapore, we are going to welcome our very first Winter Run event on 26 March 2016! Round-up your friends and family as you freeze breeze through an 5km route that boasts 3 different climatic zones. Starting off at the Big Splash (East Coast Park) and finishing off at Tanjong Rhu – this run is guaranteed to bring you sensational on-route activities and line-ups! The idea itself is intriguing enough, don’t you see? A Winter In Summer Singapore!
I took a quick read through what can be expected at the Winter Run 2016, and I got all excited already! You know, my family is not exactly the serious kind of runners, so fun races like these are more our kind of thing. Let me briefly bring you through what you can expect at the race, and I am sure by the end of this post, you’ll be raring to sign up!
Zone #1 : Seasons In The Fun
There is a chance that you might quite literally “slip” into this zone as you enter it on the bouncy slide! I can already visualize my kids bouncing all the way down giggling non-stop! From clowns and jugglers to carnival games, there is something to keep everyone entertained right here in this zone. Warning: You may want to escape the Awful Carollers as they attempt to get under your skin with their blaring renditions of random tunes. And those of you with kids, good luck on getting your kids out of this zone and continue the race. Haha!
Zone #2 : Let It Snow
You will know that you have entered the snow zone when you are greeted and welcomed with falling snow flurries. In this zone, you are transported into a land of snow-tipped alpine trees, snowmen, and chilly breeze. It might be really weird seeing winter sceneries but feeling the heat, BUT better than nothing right?! =P For the runners who will jump at any photo-opportunity on-route, try to control your breathing and don’t get overly excited at this zone! Filled with wondrous photo opportunities and photo booths, there’s a memory for everybody to take home! Be sure to keep your tootsies warm!
Zone #3 : Brave The Cold
For all you winter lovers (that’s me!), this zone is dedicated to you. Evoke all senses as you venture through an ice cave- what awaits you is a big mystery! By the time of the race, you might be famished, so be sure to grab hold of the ice-cold tasty treats stalls before you make your way to the finish. If we haven’t tackled the wintry monster in you, jump right into the ice bath – don’t you leave without a shiver down your spine! There you are, I foresee yet another hurdle trying to get our kids to leave that ice bath!
