Why We Love Swissotel Merchant Court Singapore (And Win A Family Staycation!)

There are so many reasons why we enjoyed our staycation at Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel recently. The husband didn’t want to go home, the kids didn’t want to go home and I didn’t want to go home!!

It’s not hard for you to understand why, I’m sure. Even if you have never stayed at Swissotel Merchant Court before, you might have enjoyed their widely popular buffet at Ellenborough Market Cafe, or at least passed by the hotel before. I’m sure you will agree with me that the hotel exudes an elegance and charm that draws people to take a second glance at it. If it never occured to you that the hotel is family-friendly, this review will change your mind! So glad we got to experience the Family Fun Escape staycation package as a family, and here’s why we absolutely love the hotel:

The Kids Are Treated Like V.I.Ps Here!

YES and because of that, they get everything kid-sized and kid-customized in their room! They’ve got the colorful kid beddings, kid table & chairs, kid bowls and cutlery, kid toiletries, kid towels and even kid-friendly beverages (hot chocolate with marshmallows) on the mini bar! There are soft toys for them to hug to sleep at night, board games, story books, coloring books and materials for keep them occupied for a very long time. You basically don’t need to leave the room at all and the kids won’t get bored! This is as perfect a kids’ room as can be. I have only one complaint – The kids’ room come with a bath tub and mine doesn’t! Well, they ARE the VIPs!

The kids were quick to claim their territories and respective soft toys, and I could hardly blame them for getting all excited! They love anything pink, princessy and beary!

Even the coloring sheets were pictures of the hotel – This is truly a complete Swissotel experience. Hehe!

 

Love it when everything’s prepared for the kids from toothbrushes to toothpastes, shower gel, towels, body powder etc. It makes everything so much easier for us parents.

And seriously, which hotel writes a personal note to the kids themselves??! Sure, I’ve got many handwritten cards and notes from hotel managers when I go for a staycation, but having one sent to the kids is a first for us! Now, you know what I mean when I say the kids are treated as VIPs here. Thanks for making my kids feel special, Swissotel Merchant Court! :)

I can’t really complain that my room was not as interesting as the kids’ room because when the kids are happy (and duly occupied), the parents are very happy too! So glad that the hubby and I have our personal space after the kids fall asleep at night, and we can watch TV next door in our connecting room till the wee hours without disturbing them. Now, my room doesn’t look too bad either, right?

Spacious bed for maximum comfort at night! And their pillows were so soft and fluffy – I slept super well that night!

And as always, we love our cuppa in the comfort of our room!

A Phone For You Throughout Your Stay!

This is another first for me, after staying in so many different hotels in Singapore. Every room comes with a mobile phone that allows you to make phone calls free-of-charge everywhere you go in Singapore! This is a complimentary service provided by the hotel and it is especially useful for tourists who may not have mobile network locally. The phone works just like a normal mobile phone, with a unique phone number and data connection. You can give your friends the phone number so that they may contact you easily during your stay at Swissotel Merchant Court. On top of that, the phone is preloaded with useful information about Singapore and a City Guide in case you don’t know where to go and have fun. How lovely is that?!

The Slides!

Need I say more? The moment we checked out the swimming pool, the kids wanted to rush back to the room to change and jump right back into the pool. I blame the slides, absolutely. But I did had a few go on the slide myself and I got to admit  that it was pretty fun. =P

There are two slides – one at the deeper pool, and the other at the baby wading pool, so even if your kids are young, they will have lots of fun. There is also a small jacuzzi pool for those who want to soak and chill.

Special Treats For The Little Ones!

Of course, the treats for the little ones are not only limited to the room. As part of the Family Fun Escape staycation package, the kids get to enjoy a scoop of ice-cream daily at the cafe right beside the swimming pool. The package also includes complimentary tickets to Universal Studios Singapore (USS) for two adults and two kids!!! You can either choose to visit USS during your staycation, or go at a later date as the tickets are valid for 6 months. How worthwhile is this staycation package?!

The Lounge With Awesome Service & Food!

We enjoyed a cocktail session as well as breakfast in the Executive Lounge. No complaints at all – The view was awesome, service was meticulous and the food & drinks were fabulous!

We always enjoyed lingering in the lounge because it’s exclusive and usually quiet, and the you get personal attention and service there.

I’ve said it before, and I’m going to say it again. When staying in a hotel, always opt for the Executive Rooms or pay extra for the usage of the Lounge – It is the icing to the cake that elevates the whole staycation experience!

  

The Swissotel Merchant Court Singapore is conveniently located right next to the Clarke Quay MRT station and Central Shopping Mall, and in close proximity to Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, City Hall and Orchard Road. When the kids fell asleep, the husband and I took a stroll out to experience the super happening night scene at Clarke Quay with hundreds of pubs and restaurants coming alive and people everywhere to boozing, feasting and having lots of fun on a night out with their friends. I don’t like crowded places but it’s nice to indulge in it once in a while. The atmosphere was electrifying! Staying at Swissotel Merchant Court means that you will have no lack of entertainment and food options – The location is super prime!
