One of the gadgets that I have been wanting to get for my house for the longest time is a wifi camera that works like a CCTV. You see, as a full-time working mom, I spend almost the whole day in the office, while my kids are home after school with my mother-in-law who looks after them. Having a wifi camera at home that shows me what is happening at home real-time anytime, gives me assurance that everything is okay at home. And of course, if I miss my kids, I can always watch the footage and see what they are doing and saying when I am not around. If I may say so, a wifi camera is a great gadget to invest in for every home.
After trying out my DLink DSC960L wifi camera for a while now, there are 4 things I really like about this product:
1. Easy To Set Up
That’s of utmost importance to me whenever I set up a gadget because I am naturally not so savvy in such things. Gadgets that take hours to set up frustrate me to no end, but thankful the DLink DSC960L wifi camera comes with a Quick Installation Guide – All I needed to do was to download the ‘mydlink lite’ app onto my android phone and follow the instructions to connect the camera to my home wifi. Once connected, I can watch live feed on the app whenever I want to, wherever I am.
The camera itself was easy enough to set up. Just affix the stand to the camera itself and you’re all ready to start shooting.
2. 180-Degree Wide Eye Lens
I frankly didn’t expect that such a small gadget placed in the middle of my living room on the TV console would be able to capture almost my entire living room! Perfect for me of course – the lesser the blind spots, the better!
3. Live Feed On My Phone Anytime
With the mydlink Lite app downloaded on my phone and connected to the wifi camera at home, I can have a live feed of what my kids are doing at home anytime anywhere. That is really the main reason why I even installed the camera in the first place. With a built-in microphone and HD video quality, this wifi camera meets all of my needs. When my kids knew about it, they came up with many creative ways to make use of these functions:
“Mum, at 3pm everyday, remember to check your phone and look at our live feed ok! We will do a 3pm hello dance everyday for you!”
“Mum, if I don’t know how to do my Math homework, I will show you the question on the camera. Please do the working then send the solution over to Nai Nai’s handphone, OK?”
“Mum, if I need you to help me buy something on your way home, I will scream louder into the camera to catch your attention. Remember to tune in when you hear me ok!”
It’s amazing how creative kids are nowadays. I secretly think they are all very ingenious ideas though. =P
4. MicroSD Slot For Recording
With a microSD slot on the camera body itself, you can record all your footages directly onto the SD card for playback purposes. Other than the ability to play back whatever happens on any specific day, I was just thinking that I can use this function to record a special event like a birthday party at home or a gathering with friends etc. You can be as creative as you want!
