Dino Robot Factory Exhibition At The Science Centre Singapore!

Media Invite

Science is my Joey’s favourite subject of all times, and I’m really glad. She is in her school’s E2K Programme, which is an additional class once a week after school where she gets to dabble in different science experiments and pique her interest in the subject. Quite expectedly, one of her favourite places to visit in Singapore is the Science Centre and she is always excited whenever there is a new exhibition happening. Last weekend, we popped by to Science Centre to check out their latest blockbuster exhibition – Dino Robot Factory!

This is a special  travelling exhibition curated directed from Japan for our kids, and even though I had doubts whether my kids would enjoy a dinosaur-related exhibition, surprisingly they did! In fact, even though the area of the exhibition was not that big, we spent quite a substantial amount of time exploring the different stations. My favourite has got to be the humongous dinosaur centre-piece as well as the other motion-sensor dinosaur robots that could move and make noise – Very realistic movements!

To guide the kids through the exhibition, everyone will receive a pamphlet where they will search for answers to questions, as well as stamp on their pamphlet after they’ve completed every station. At the end, completed pamphlets also win the kids a mystery gift!

With the help of a special scope, they can see the T-Rex ‘come alive’!

The kids spent a fair bit of time at the sand pit digging for fossils. In fact, majority of the kids are congregated at the sand pit, so it’s obviously the most popular station for them.

These robotic dinosaurs looked really realistic, with eyeballs that even move along with you!

Other sections of the exhibition include the Body Assembly Room, where you can add skin & muscle to the dinosaur skeletons, and blocks for the little ones to build their own dinosaurs!

This dome housed within the exhibition is like a mini omnimax theatre. Sit or lie down on the beanbags provided inside the dome and enjoy a short documentary on dinosaurs! The surround sound and great visuals make for a great experience – At different points, it felt as if the dinosaurs were dashing towards us! Such a thrilling show! Make sure you don’t miss this show when you visit the exhibition. =D

Apart from the Dino Robot Factory exhibition, make sure you check out the rest of the exhibition areas within Science Centre as well. One of the areas we visited for the first time this time round was the Indoor Butterflies Up-Close Enclosure, which is not big but fascinating for the kids nonetheless. I am not a fan of butterflies (I’m terrified of them, to be frank), but it was fun watching the kids interact with them in the enclosure, and learning more about the different life stages of the creature from a caterpillar to a full-grown butterfly!

I was leaning so near to take shots of these pupae and larvae that I didn’t realise there was no glass covering between me and these creatures until Joey exclaimed it. Yes, jumped 3 steps backwards immediately, with my hair all stood up. =X Very up-close experience, indeed.

Thankfully, my kids were not scaredy cats like me – They love playing with the butterflies!

You’ll be glad to know that the Butterflies Up-close enclosure is a permanent exhibition at the Science Centre (Note: This exhibition is separately ticketed from Science Centre). Make sure you pop by when you next visit! So you see, there’re plenty to see at the Science Centre, so take advantage of the June school holidays and bring your kids for a visit very soon.
