Gardens By The Bay: Autumn Harvest

Media Invite

Gardens Bay the Bay’s new display in Flower Dome is major LOVE! The whole place is bustling in happy hues of oranges and yellows, and just makes you feel very happy and hopeful when you step in. :) The Autumn Harvest theme is aptly portrayed with different fruits and vegetables, depicting the abundance of harvest time. As the display will be on from now till 29 Oct 2017, the Halloween theme is also cleverly weaved into the display, with adorable painted pumpkins found everywhere. Those with a soft spot for eveything fairy-tale can look out for Cinderella’s horse carriage right at the entrance of Flower Dome – Look out for Cinderella’s glass slippers peeking out of the carriage! That got the kids laughing! =D

Apart from the main display, I say the fringe new whimsical displays are totally worth checking out as well. I love the facial expressions of the statues – So well portrayed!

For those who love orchids, you will be happy to know that the first in a series of changing orchid displays in Cloud Forest will be launched this month as well. Orchids belong to the family Orchidaceae, which is one of the largest families of flowering plants in the world. The changing orchid displays in Cloud Forest aim to educate visitors on the various genera of orchids, and showcase their fascinatingly myriad forms and colours. The first display, which opens on 8 September, focuses on orchids from the genus Cattleya, and will showcase more than 400 of them in the rich colours of fall. Regarded as the “Queen of Orchids”, the Cattleya is also called “Corsage Orchid” due to the significant size of its blooms. With hybridisation widely practised, Cattleya flowers now come in a wide spectrum of colours. You can look forward to seeing varieties such as Rhyncholaeliocattleya Duh’s Fantasy ‘Mellow, an award-winning orchid with deep red blooms and a ruffled dark fuchsia lip marked with yellow grooves, and the Cattleya walkeriana¸ a pretty pink orchid native to Brazil that is known for its large blooms with strong fragrance.

Time to plan a trip to Gardens by the Bay with your family and friends! :)
