When Zero Becomes One

It felt like yesterday when I saw my baby Joey in my arms in the hospital. But it also felt like so much has happened in the past one year that it seemed like 10 years! yeh.... My baby has turned ONE!

Had a party at home with some close friends & family yesterday. Her birthday fell on Easter Sunday this year - 8th April! =) Calls for a great celebration.

Isaiah and I wrote a birthday card to Joey, and we will continue to do so every year until she can read them. Every card will contain our well wishes to her and what we want to tell her each year. :)

To my surprise, Isaiah wrote me a card too! Hmm... I should also celebrate my one year of motherhood ya? haha..

A very sweet & pretty card. :)

My parents gave Joey an ang pow for her birthday. They've always been very generous to Joey, and I am so thankful for their love. I especially like what my mum wrote on the ang pow. It's their wishes & blessings for Joey & when I read it, it felt so heartwarming.

Can you read what it says? Loosely translated as 'May the blessings & grace of God be with you always'. The blessings of the grandparents. :)

Joey with my side of the family..

Joey with her grandmama.. My mum cooked 2 large pots of curry chicken for the guests. I must say it's the best dish of the day. Haha.. Sorry no photo, finished everything liao.

My MIL bought a very lovely victorian style dress for Joey, and she changed into that halfway through the party.

Here's with daddy. As you can see, she has changed out of that pretty blue dress because it was too hot for her!

So sad... I don't even remember taking a solo photo with my baby on her birthday. sobs... too busy taking photos of everyone else...

TIME FOR CAKE-CUTTING!

Look at her birthday cake... don't you just love it?? Looks nice & tastes nice too! Even comes customised with her name on it.

She couldn't wait to lay her hands on the elmo! We had to keep her hands to herself.. haha..

I wonder if she understands that she is the star of the day?? When we started to gather around her to sing the birthday song, she looked around at everyone with her mouth open. Probably trying to understand what is happening and why everyone is smiling & singing at her. haha... I don't think she would remember all these when she grows up, but hey! She can read my blog to find out more! Haha..

Check out the video clip of her cake-cutting when we were singing the Happy Birthday song.

Gathering of the Babies! When you reach a certain age, the friends around you all start to have kids... :)

Joey sure looks like she knows she is the star of the day?!

Hahaha... laugh until like that... alethea and jayden can't be bothered with her.. haha

Little girls.. aren't they sweet & pretty?

Both Jayden & Alethea are captivated by Joey's cot. I wish Joey has as much interest in her cot too.. haha...

A photo of 2 families!

We used to be CG friends without any babies.. and now we both have baby girls! :)

We really are so thankful & grateful to all our friends who made their way down for the party even though it is after a long weekend of Easter services! Really appreciate them for taking the time out to make Joey's day a memorable one!

Guest roll! (We didn't manage to capture every single person though!)

And now for the PRESENTS!

Apart from lots of ang pows & vouchers, there're bags and bags of presents. :)

Look at this interesting samba instrument set! Comes with an accompaniment music CD for the kid to play the instruments along with it.

My brother and his girlfriend bought Joey a laptop! It sure looks interesting and comes with so many different english and maths quizzes and other games for baby to play. But it's for age 5 and above.. so brother, you want me to start training joey that early?! Heee... wonderful wonderful!

of course... lots of soft toys...

This is the biggest gift of all.. a kitchen set! wow... I'd love to have one set myself if I am a little girl too.. heee...

It's not all about joey only! Yuhao & Geri gave us a really nice photo frame and a photo taken of us 2 weeks ago... Nice eh?? It's now sitting on my TV.

Thank you everyone for making Joey's 1st birthday celebration a really fun one! =)

Many more good years to come...
