Baby Jayne’s Rubber Duckie Shower – The Prep

Ever since the idea of doing a rubber duckie themed baby shower came upon me, it kind of got stuck in my head. So finally the chance has come! Planning such a party can be very easy, hassle-free & economical. Most of the stuffs may also be reused after the party!

The essentials of a rubber duckie baby shower:

(1) YELLOW TABLE CLOTH

Blue ones also can do if you want to simulate a pond setting. Otherwise, yellow will always work because it’s the primary colour for such a theme! I bought a disposable plastic table cloth so that at the end of the party, I just need to wrap it up & throw it away! $1.30 from a party supply shop.

(2) YELLOW DISPOSABLE CUTLERY

To go with the theme of course! :) Bought these from party supply shop. Average of $3 per pack.

(3) CLEAR TRANSPARENT & BLUE GLASS CONTAINERS

These are either for holding food or to be used as decor. I bought the bowls from Daiso at $2 each. Cheap & good!

(4) GLASS PEBBLES

I’m putting them into the large transparent container in picture above, with 3/4 clear water, then I’m going to float a few rubber duckies in it. This is going to be my food table centre piece. Interesting & fun! Bought these from a pet shop at $3 per packet.

(5) SCENTED CANDLES

Just something to fill the gaps if your table looks too plain. Looks nice & classy too. Of course, stick to the theme – Go for white, blue or yellow candles. These are from Daiso as well. $2 each.

(6) ALPHABET STICK-ONS

These can be used to spell out the baby girl/ boy’s name. As most of the banners sold at party supply shops are mainly ‘Happy Birthday’ and this is theoretically not a birthday celebration, I decided to do without any decorative banners. Instead, I will stick Jayne’s name on my main door and add some confetti around it. This is from Party supply shop at $2 per packet (But there’s only 1 per alphabet).

(7) CANDIES & CHOCOLATES

Use M & Ms and marshmallows to inject colour to the food table, serve as snacks and add a fun element to the party.

And of course, how can we forget the main character of the party –

(8) THE RUBBER DUCKIES!

I bought these from a neighborhood toy shop at $6 per pack. There’re 20 rubber duckies in each pack.

The rubber duckies were given to the guests as party favors as well. :)

A rubber duckie themed party was really quite cheery & fun to put together! You can try it too!
