Papa Isaiah signed us up for the Simply Sofa Hunt 2011 event last weekend and we had loads of fun! =D
This is the 3rd year running for the event, but our first. Basically it’s an event organised in conjunction with Father’s Day, so you need to join the event as a family and based on clues provided, you hunt down 5 sets of sofas located at different locations, snap photographs with the sofa and submit your best photograph at the final destination for competition. There’re different categories to compete for, such as ‘Biggest Family Shot’, ‘Most Candid Shot’, ‘Most Creative Shot’, etc. It sure sounded like fun!
The event kicked start at Tiong Bahru Plaza. More than 120 families signed up for the event. Certainly not bad for an event that you have to pay to go for! Each family pays $35, and we’re given refreshments and goody bags along the way. The whole event took us only 2 hours to complete, but it was so well-organised that we really had fun. We followed the clues provided at each station, played games, took buses and MRT rides. It was fun for us to do it as a family! The kids had so much fun just taking public transport!
Each family got a ‘passport’ to collect stamps at every station. This lady explained to us how the game was going to be played. I was excited to hear that at some stations, the daddies would have to go for the Dad’s Dare. Sure sounded like we could sabo Papa Isaiah!! LOL!
To be frank, the main objective of the game is not to make it difficult for the families to find the sofas. The organisers just wanted to encourage families to complete an interesting game together as a family to promote bonding & cohesiveness. So, the volunteers gave us super a lot of clues on where our next destination should be. They even use maps to show us the way! Haha!
Our 1st stop was to Pinnacle@Duxton! So off we took the MRT to Outram Park MRT station! Short rides, but the girls loved it. =D
Reached our 1st station!
This first station was so much fun! There was a Dad’s Dare for Papa Isaiah to attempt! =P
Joey was asked to toss this box to find out which theme Papa Isaiah was supposed to dress up as! Haha so fun!
‘Tools’ we could use to dress up the dads…
And the theme that Joey chose for Papa Isaiah was….
NERDY
Muahahahahahahahahahha!!
And before we left the station, we of course had to take the sofa shot! (As you can see, we’re not very creative. =P)
We then proceeded to our next station, which was a short walk to a nearby park!
The next station was the station to collect our refreshments & drinks. We were given 5 bottles of H2O, 2 boxes of Polar cakes and 8 Subway cookies! We were sooooo happy!!! Cos we were famished. Haha! Playing games is tiring! We quickly gobbled our cookies and took our photo on the sofa! Haha! No time to waste! =P
Off by MRT again, this time to Raffles Place! (Hmmm just out of curiosity: How come the reserved seat sign on the MRT does not include kids??)
Love the buzz at Raffles Place!!!
We used the props provided and did a huggy pose. =D
Very quickly, we moved off again to our 4th station! It’s back to somewhere near Tiong Bahru Plaza at some housing estate.
The 2nd Dad’s Dare happened there! 5 questions were posed to Joey, and Papa Isaiah had to guess what her answer was going to be. For every wrong answer, Joey could paste a sticker onto Papa Isaiah’s face! Haha!
As you can see, Papa Isaiah didn’t get everything correct. And Baby Jayne had to share some of his ‘punishment’! =P
Our sofa pose at Station 4!
Finally, we made it to our final destination! It’s a lovely playground about 2 bus stops away! I made a mental note to bring the kids back to this playground again. Check out the huge sand pit which has become so rare in Singapore! And the structures looked so fun!
The 3rd Dad’s Dare happened at this last station for us and the dad-and-daughter team had to play charades. Too easy peasy – they finished within a minute!
Our final sofa pose! =D
We made it!!!! =D
We didn’t win anything for the event, but it was certainly one fun event that the whole family completed together. We had loads of fun and pretty sure we’ll join again next year! (Still thinking whether we should all wear pink polka dotted tees to stand out among all the families! Papa Isaiah’s gonna faint. LOL!)
