Tips For Relaxing Your Mind

It is a known fact that we live in a society that is very high in stress level. Everyday, we have to deal with pressure that comes from every direction - Our jobs, our families, our kids, our friends... It's scary because the amount of mental stress can be very overwhelming if we do not know how to relax & rejuvenate ourselves from time to time. De-stressing is a very important art to master in order to stay sane & happy!

I am totally for ME-TIME. It's important to socialise and be involved with friends and good fellowship, but it is also important to apportion time where you can be alone by yourself, to reflect and think about things. It's time-outs like that which will give us the strength to continue walking strong. Mentally & emotionally, it gives us a break as well, and this break can jolly well bring us back from the verge of a breakdown or depression to a healthy state of mind. Today, Professor Kless is going to share with you my tips on relaxing & rejuvenating yourself. Let me know what you think! =)

R-E-L-A-X

R for Release
It is difficult to let go of something, especially when they are important to us. When we let go or release something from our hands, it feels like we are losing control, and we don't like that. But releasing and letting go could well be the most important ingredient to relaxing ourselves. Learning when not to hold on too tightly will give us a breather that will relax our minds. We don't have to be uptight all the time. Learn to let go of certain things and you  will see a bluer sky. =)

E for Enjoy
Do something you really enjoy doing. That will surely relax your mind and body. Go for a swim, read a book by the beach, listen to your favourite CD, or take a slow walk in the park. When you drop everything and go do something that you enjoy, you will always find back the strength and energy you need. It is important to set aside time to do things you really enjoy. For me, I enjoy blogging, so everyday, I set aside a time where I will blog myself happy! =)

L for Laugh
Laughter is really the best medicine. It may sound silly, but you'll be amazed at how big a difference laughter can make to your soul. When I feel stressed, I make myself laugh out loud. I tickle myself, watch a funny video or simply look through my kids' silly photos, and I laugh. And feel better instantly. Laughing relaxes you. Try it. =)

A for Acknowledge
Acknowledge the need for you to relax, and acknowledge the fact that it is OK to relax. We Singaporeans are tensed up most of the time. We are rushing from place to place, rushing to get things done on time. Sometimes it seems as if it's a crime to slow down to give ourselves a break. Ridiculous, isn't it? Life should be enjoyed, and not just going through in a rush. Allow yourself to acknowledge that you are NOT a robot, and therefore deserves a break every now and then. Acknowledge the fact that relaxing makes you stronger and not weaker. Interestingly, just a paradigm shift like that can cause you to relax immediately.

X for Xpress
Expressing yourself is very important and necessary for mental well-being. A person who doesn't talk or share his feelings and coop everything in himself will eventually suffer a nervous breakdown. We all need some form of outlets to release our stress and feel better at the end of the day. Find a friend whom your trust, or a family member you love, and express your feelings and emotions to them. Once that know you are able to express yourself without inhibitions, you will feel more relaxed, knowing you are understood and loved.

That's my own copyright tips for RELAXING our minds. Does it help you?? =D
