My Darwin Journal: Litchfield National Park & The Waterfalls

Darwin Logo

On our final day in Darwin, we left the beautiful Wildman Wilderness Lodge and set off for Litchfield National Park. Along the way, I was just enjoying the lovely sights.

Almost went blind when I pointed my camera to shoot the blazing sun. =X

The clouds in a different country look different somehow. These looked like huge cauliflowers.

Love how the white clouds, blue skies, brown wheat fields and cable lines all make up a perfect picture.

It’s amazing how huge Litchfield Park was. We drove at least an hour within the park to get to the Wangi Falls. Lots and lots of sparse space and green fields along the way.

The weather was swelteringly hot. We all couldn’t wait to jump into the waterfalls. Too bad, Wangi Falls was not one of those approved for swimming as there would be crocodiles in them. It was pretty and spectacular just to look at though.

We were standing at the viewing porch a distance away, but still got sprayed by the cool waters. Cooling!

Try feeling the magnitude of the waterfalls:

Crocodiles dwell beneath. Praying hard none would suddenly jump up like those in the Jumping Croc Cruise. =X

We next went to another waterfalls where we would be allowed to jump in and swim. Very happy to hear that.

From the viewing porch, we had to take a five-minute walk downhill to the waterfall itself. As we trotted down, all we could think of was how the uphill journey was going to be like after the swim. Trying not to think about it.

This was as close to nature as one could get. I actually love it.

IMG_9407

It was soothing to hear rushing waters. Totally calmed and relaxed my mind.

IMG_9408

Yep. Exactly what we were planning to do there. Thanks for the reminders.

Reached! I found the reddish brown rocks especially charming. Don’t you just love how nature had formed the patterns on them?

No more photographs from this point on, because we all dived right in. Thanks to Mike Kanes for this group shot of us waving though! (I was holding on to a rock for my dear life, trying not to be swept off by the strong waves caused by the waterfall.)

Alrighty! That kinda wrapped up my super long Darwin series! Hope you enjoyed reading and got to know Darwin better. Make it your next holiday destination? =)
