The city is bustling with an atmosphere of art appreciation with the Arts Festival in town. I love it that there is an effort to inculcate the love for the arts in children with a series of activities specially catered to them during this season.
We brought the girls to the Festival Village at Esplanade Park and we saw these colourful letters right infront of Esplanade. I love the burst of colours – F.U.N literally!
Friendly greeters passed us brochures on the Festival Village..
The first thing that greeted us was this Festival Cafe! I think it’s so cool that a temporary structure can have an open-air rooftop seating area! Would be nice to have some ice-cream and coffee there at night!
There are several activities planned out for the kids at this Village, but the highlight is definitely the Rainbow Canopy!
This is basically a place where kids can get entangled inside and create as much havoc as they like! It resembles a lot like the mess my kids create at home on a daily basis, but I don’t have to clean this up! Way too cool.
That’s what art is all about, isn’t it? Freedom of expression at its best.
We reached after the session started for 15 minutes (There were 3 time slots allocated for this activity everyday). Thankfully, they allowed my kids in because it was not at max capacity yet. Lots of excited children and parents in this small space. I love how happy and colourful this whole space looked. =)
Basically, every kid gets a ball of stretchable fabric, and they can get into the maze and entangle any way they want. They can go round and under and create as many knots and tangles as they like.
I cannot imagine how fun this super simple activity is. All the kids were having a great time getting entangled inside!
There were also staff inside the play area to interact with the kids while getting themselves entangled by all the kids. Sure made it more fun!
Spotted Joey amidst the tangles! =D
Baby Jayne got a little afraid when she got in and all the older kids were aggressively tangling up themselves, running here and there. So she only went in again when the session is wrapping up and the staff are starting to clear up the area.
After the session ended, we checked out the rest of the activities available. There were spray-painting, mask-colouring, etc.
The girls and their masks!
Ended our little artsy trip with ice-cream at Coldstone! =) Love it.
