The Brunch At Waterfall Cafe, Shangri-La Hotel

Media Invite

When we were at Shangri-La Hotel for our staycation a week back, they very kindly invited us to have ‘brunch’ at the The Waterfall, as a beautiful end to our already-very-amazing staycation. This ‘brunch’ was no ordinary brunch though – It was one of the most luxurious meals I’ve ever had. If you are looking for a lovely place to celebrate Christmas with your loved ones with great food and ambience, I strongly recommend this.

The Waterfall is located near to the swimming pool in the hotel, so there’s alfresco dining option if you prefer that. We started off indoors, then eventually moved to the alfresco area when the kids were full and wanted to play at the poolside. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon as the adults feasted and enjoyed our wines and cocktails, while the kids picked flowers, played with water and relaxed on the pool lounge chairs.

The Brunch is a revitalized Sunday brunch concept offered by The Waterfall. You can expect unlimited servings of appetizers, premium seafood on ice, classic breakfast dishes and main courses inspired by Mediterranean flavours. There was just so much offered that I cannot name everything, so I’ll just let the photos do the talking. All I can say is that it was an extraordinary gastronomical experience that not only pleased our stomachs, but relaxed and soothed our senses as well. Everything was beautifully presented before our eyes, and paired with immaculate service by the staff, my family thoroughly enjoyed ourselves that afternoon.

Love the little details on the table. Napkins secured with a seashell string, vase with sand and more seashells and menu stored in a bottle.

Kids are served Organic Sparkling Apple juice – What a treat! And that’s only fair, because the adults would be served unlimited cocktails and wines during the course of our meal. In fact, right after we were seated down, we were first served a glass of champagne each to kick start the meal. This is what enjoying life is all about. :)

The appetizers all looked so pretty and colorful, you’ll feel hungry just looking at them.

The wide variety of seafood offered was such a pleasant surprise. There were lobsters, Sri Lankan crabs, mussels, huge prawns, oysters, scallops – And everything was super fresh. This place is a seafood heaven for seafood-lovers like me. :)

The hot food section was just as amazing. The roasted meats, pasta, mushrooms and potatoes were all wonderfully done. It was comfort food done in perfecto!

At the other end of the restaurant, there was a beautifully-furnished corner that contained the assorted cheeses, salads, cold cuts, breads, pizzas, grains, etc. There was even a chef slicing fresh ham straight from a smoked goat’s leg, it was so amazing.

Once you are done with the main courses, check out their wide range of desserts available. There were Peach and Raspberry Tiramisu, Green Apple and Banana Crumble as well as Coconut and Strawberry Blanc Manger. If you prefer chocolate creations, there was Trio of Valhrona Chocolate Mousse and Chewy Brownie with Fondant Chocolate. Freshly made crêpes from a live station may also be paired with ice cream, sorbet and seasonal fresh fruits. You’ll seriously be spoilt for choice.

The best way to end off the meal is to grab a specially-concocted cocktail or mocktail from their bar counter. I tried a mocktail of mojito with lemon & strawberries, and it was just marvelous.
