It seems to me that Do-It-Yourself (DIY) photography is gaining popularity in Singapore. I see more and more of such shops sprouting up everywhere, and it’s well-received because it’s fun, fuss-free and a great way to get nice (and sometimes funny) photographs with family & friends. Last weekend, we were invited to try out the services at the newly-opened Clickz Studio, and IT WAS FUN!
What happens at Clickz Studio is that you can book their studios in 30-minute slots, get into your pose and snap your shots with the press of a remote button. It seriously doesn’t get any easier than this, and strangely, even though it’s just posing & snapping, it’s very addictive and fun!
Got a little surprise when we stepped into the studio – There was a welcome signage with cute duckies! =D As you can see, the backdrop had been set up in white, as per my request.
In this studio, you can choose between blue, pink or white backdrop (top of photo). When I popped by the smaller studio next door, I saw yellow backdrop too. Depending on what kind of photographs you are trying to take, the different colored backdrops can create a different mood. I chose white for its versatility and also because I was hoping that our clothes and props will stand out more (and they did!). The studio is set up with two large lamps to create the perfect lighting for photography. There is a flat screen TV in front to show the preview before taking the shots.
There are many props provided to make your photos more interesting, or if you run out of ideas, there is also an ideas board on the wall for you to take reference. Then again, I would say, just be creative, have fun and keep snapping! That’s the fun of it all! :)
My girls are obviously no strangers to DIY studio photography - They got right into action! They could operate the entire system by themselves because all they needed to do was to dress up, put on the props, stand on the white backdrop and press the remote to take a shot!

3 Reasons why I Think Clickz Studio Is Good:
1. Good lighting in the studio with a plain background makes good photos. Props are provided, but even if you don’t use them, this place is great for family photos or wefies.
2. Everything is within your control and in your own timing. Just press the remote when you are all ready for a shot. Easy and fuss-free!
3. All the photographs you’ve taken within your booked time slot belong to you and will be given to you in a CD. You even have the option to print them out on the spot using their instant photo print machine!
