Kid-Friendly Cafe: Cafe Melba

If you are looking for a quiet cafe in the East to hang out during the weekdays, you can consider visiting Cafe Melba. Located on the grounds of Goodman Arts Centre, this cafe has a laid-back and relaxed feel that makes me miss Australia badly. The little girl was feeling unwell over the weekends last week, so we kept her from school on Monday and brought her to the cafe with us. There were very few customers at the cafe – Just the way I liked it. Appreciated the peace and quietness very much on my off day.

When we got there, we spotted a bouncy castle by the side of the cafe, which was such a pleasant surprise. The little girl wasted no time in getting to it. There were no other kids around, and she had the whole castle all to herself – What joy!

Turned out – THE BOUNCY CASTLE’S NOT FOR WEEKDAYS. They only set it up during the weekends for the kids, but it happened to be up when we reached because they just finished washing it, and was airing it to dry fully. Haha! Before it got kept, the girl had a good five minutes of jumping and bouncing. Fun unexpected is always more fun! If you visit Cafe Melba with your kids over the weekends, it’ll be up and ready to entertain the kids while you enjoy your cuppa.

Love how the cafe’s been furnished. It’s a perfect place to relax with a magazine and coffee, or spend a nice afternoon with good friends.

Food at Cafe Melba is pretty good, though it can get quite costly. It’s not a place you would frequent every single weekend, but when you do, you’ll enjoy every bite of the food. I love their coffee – It’s not too acidic and had just the right taste for me.

We ordered the Full Breakfast set (S$28) and Aglio Olio (S$18). Both were delicious and hearty!

I had such a wonderful time with the hubby and little girl that afternoon. After I shared my photos of Cafe Melba on Instagram that day, friends told me that I should really try their pizzas and redang the next time because they are very, very good. I totally should go back again soon!
