Our Family Travelogue with Holiday Inn (Day 3)

Media Invite

Day 3’s breakfast was settled at Pesto’s and we absolutely LOVE it! Pesto’s is a much smaller restaurant compared to J’s, so it’s cozier and more personalized. There is a buffet spread of basic items on the side but every guest can choose a main course and it’s freshly cooked on the spot for you. Check out the menu – There are cuisines from different countries to choose from! The problem was everything looked so good that we couldn’t decide which to choose. =.=

The buffet line was sumptuous on its own, with freshly-squeezed juices, cereals, breads and fruits.

The girls opted for Japanese breakfast and it was a hearty and generous serving of grilled salmon served with rice and broccoli.

I chose a more exotic option of Thai breakfast that consisted of chicken porridge served with salted eggs! Those were mini hashbrowns floating in my porridge. Soooooooooooo good. =P

The husband had the conventional western breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages and baked beans. Love. :)

IMG_8136

Good breakfasts make me very happy. =D

After breakfast, we took a leisure stroll in the resort and played darts and table tennis.

We were scheduled to transfer to Holiday Inn Patong that afternoon, so we popped by to thank the wonderful staff at Kids’ Club for making the kids’ stay at Mai Khao such a happy one.

We packed our bags and were picked up by our transport to Holiday Inn Patong. Patong is worlds apart from Mai Khao – It’s full of energy and vitality, with good bargains everywhere. Holiday Inn Patong is a much bigger hotel compared to Mai Khao and naturally, more crowded than Holiday Inn Mai Khao as well. Families would LOVE the Family Suite here – We were stumped for words when we entered our rooms – SO LOVELY!

Our room had an underwater theme with turtle shells as bed frames and colorful wallpaper. On each of their beds, there’s a soft toy for them to hug to sleep at night, and a platter of chocolates and biscuits prepared for them.

The kids’ room came with a flat screen TV, Xbox as well as an album of DVDs of movies for the kids to have endless hours of fun in the room. Seriously, no kids can resist this! Above it all, as a parent, I am extremely happy that a hotel would go to such an extent to make their little guests feel so loved and welcomed. Holiday Inn Patong deserves a thumbs up!

The bathroom in the kids’ room is fairly standard with a bath tub and standing shower area, but check out the cute froggy shower head! =P

IMG_8168

Adjacent to the kids’ room was the cosy room for the husband and I. I really love rooms with this kind of configuration – The kids and adults get personal spaces and while in close proximity, they get to do their own things without disturbance. Really perfect.

Look how big my room was!

IMG_8174

The hotel even prepared a bottle of wine and fruit platter for us – Very loved! :)

IMG_8175 IMG_8170

The first thing we did was to check out the Kids’ Club – No surprises there, right?? =P

IMG_8196 IMG_8195 IMG_8192 IMG_8193 IMG_8182IMG_8181  IMG_8183 IMG_8184

The Kids’ Club was about to do a Muay Thai class for the little ones, so Jayne decided to join in the fun! The parents could not stop laughing while watching them – Cute much! =P

IMG_8225 IMG_8229

Her moves looked pretty authentic, don’t you think?

As we were still a couple of hours away from dinner time, we decided to explore Patong Beach. After all, Patong beach is one of the most popular beaches in Phuket. Indeed, the beach was crowded with many tourists all trying to get a good tan, and the beach’s bustling with all kinds of activities – There were people playing para-sailing, jet-skiing, etc. This is a different kind of beautiful from Mai Khao Beach – Here, you’ll see lots of colors, life and laughter. Some people prefer this kind of beach vacation – How about you? :)

IMG_8217 IMG_8219 IMG_8221 IMG_8222 IMG_8213 IMG_8216

Dinner was at the hotel’s signature Thai restaurant, and we ordered many authentic Thai dishes such as Tom Yum Goong, pomelo salad, soft shell crab, sambal prawns, etc to share. Service was meticulous and we enjoyed the dinner very much.

Our night was spent relaxing in the room – The kids watched an animation movie from their beds and so did we, from our own beds. So good that we don’t have to fight over the TV! A brand new day awaits tomorrow!

My 4th and final post in this series will be up tomorrow. Make sure you follow us through this journey as I will be running a GIVEAWAY in tomorrow’s post. Stay tuned for more details. :)
