Visit The Bird Park Before School Reopens!

Media Invite

There are many reasons why I love Singapore, and one of them is because of the very wonderful wildlife parks we have here. We make it a point to visit all the parks a couple of times every year simply because it’s always nice and fun to walk through the parks, appreciate the animals and just spend quality time together as a family. I think Wildlife Reserves Singapore has done a fantastic job at maintaining the various parks, and updating the content regularly to attract both locals and tourists. My personal favorite is actually the Jurong Bird Park because it’s home to several of my favorite species. My girls are always thrilled when we say that we are visiting any of the parks because they love animals! I guess it’s pretty much the same for every kid – they get intrigued by the different animals and the sounds (and sometimes smells) they make. A trip to the zoo or the bird park is like 500 times better than reading them a book on animals, so what’s there not to love?

And so, we recently made a trip to the Jurong Bird Park again and had an awesome time there as usual. Here are some of our favorite shots from the trip - Some were taken by my kids! =D

Yes, it flew all the way up to the roof and stayed there, not moving at all. Everyone who saw was snapping away!

Oh yes, in case you didn’t know, there are animals other than birds at the Jurong Bird Park, and they are usually super adorable.

And our all-time pink flamingoes. We can sit on the rocks and watch them for a very long time!

The place we would inevitably end up before leaving Jurong Bird Park is the water playground. It’s way too colorful, fun and splashing to give it a pass.

VISIT JURONG BIRD PARK THIS MONTH!

Before the school reopens again in January, make sure you bring your family to the Jurong Bird Park and check out some amazing new additions to the park. Come up-close with the world’s largest bird and witness the flight of the heaviest bird of prey swooping down with its breathtaking wingspan! Held on the weekends in December till 27 December, you can expect a flock of activities, from a giant puppet parade, hands-on arts and crafts, and a special feeding session with the world’s largest bird – the ostrich. Kids can go on a trail and track down ‘big’ birds such as the Australian pelican (largest bill), hyacinth macaw (largest flying parrot), and take part in educational game stations to learn about the special features of birds.

Get ready to be swept away by the descent of the park’s latest ‘king’ – the Andean condor. This impressive vulture will debut for the first time in the park in 10 years. Holding the titles of the heaviest bird of prey and one of the world’s largest flying birds, this species can weigh up to 15kg with a wingspan measuring up to 3.2 metres.  The Andean condor will wow visitors with its display of might and intelligence during the weekend editions of the Kings of the Skies Show at 10am and 4pm. You can also take a photo with a life-size replica of the condor’s wings to see how remarkably wide they are.

Local residents can enjoy huge savings with the Feather Friends membership promotion.
