Bangkok: Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchada

Frequent travellers to Bangkok might know about the popular Suan Lum Night Bazaar which was closed down several years ago. The good news is that the bazaar has reopened at Ratchada, and it looks set on recreating the experience of the original Suan Lum Night Bazaar. I had never visited the original bazaar, but I already like this new one. It’s not crammed and crowded like most night markets in Bangkok. Instead, there is a very relaxing vibe in the place and it’s a perfect place for some browsing & shopping after a lovely dinner. There are also entertainment options for the kids, so in short – it’s a very family-friendly place.

How often do you find a life-sized dinosaur on display outside a shopping mall? And there are three of these! Got so many kids excited!

Like most Bangkok night markets, you would find all kinds of cheap knick knacks, food, clothes, accessories and gadgets on sale here. The prices are even better than some of the more famous night markets! A major plus point is that it’s open everyday, and not just during the weekends!

And my all-time favorite – Carousel! They cost only 20 cents (Sing) per ride per kid! Too wasted not to ride on them.

There are also stalls selling coffee and alcohol and seats for you to linger and chill at the bazaar. Definitely going again when I am back in Bangkok.
