My family LOVES travelling to Bangkok, and we do it at least once a year. It’s hard not to love such a great holiday destination because it’s a mere 2-hour flight away from Singapore and almost everything (food, shopping, accommodation, transportation) is cheaper than in Singapore. Despite the weather being crazy hot at 39 degrees Celsius when we were there, we enjoyed every bit of the trip. This time round, we took the opportunity to review a hotel that’s in one of the best locations in Bangkok City, in my opinion. Located right next to MBK Shopping Mall (with two BTS stations within walking distance) is Pathumwan Princess Hotel, and we had such a great time staying there, especially with the introduction of their new Family Vacation Plus package!
The Family Vacation Plus package included hotel transfer in a comfortable mini van limousine and a stay in a ExecuPlus Suite – The suite which is originally a living area & a bedroom is converted into two rooms, with two single beds added to the living area. This essentially means that the parents can sleep in the original bedroom of the suite (which comes with a king-sized bed), while the kids can sleep on the new single beds in the living area. The space is great for families and we appreciated that we had personal space while staying near to the kids at all times.
The Spacious Suite!
The bed sheets for the kids’ beds have colorful graphics, which thrilled the kids the moment they stepped in.
You would notice that there is a huge three-seater sofa next to the beds as well – That’s the original sofa in the suite, but pushed to the side to make way for the two single beds. We left the kids’ luggages there so that they could access them easily. Quite perfect.
The hotel also very thoughtfully prepared special toiletries for the kids to use – Even prepared new toothbrushes for them!
There is also a DVD player in the kids’ room and there are DVDs available for borrowing from the hotel.
The window from our room overlooked the swimming pool and the kids couldn’t wait to jump in after seeing it!
In the next room where the husband and I stayed in looked totally different – It was classy and cosy, just the way I like it.
Absolutely love our bedroom because it’s so spacious with a full length of sofa seats on one side!
The bathroom was spacious and accessible from both rooms. It’s perfect, because I wouldn’t feel as safe if the kids’ room had their own bathroom. I would have to constantly check on them to make sure they were not playing with the taps! =X
There was a bath tub as well as standing rain shower. Love rain showers!!!
The usual toiletries were provided and they smelt good!
Daily Ice-cream Treats!
Perhaps, one of the things that excited the girls most about the Family Vacation Plus package was that the kids would get free ice-cream daily! (Sorry parents, none for you! =P)
With the coupon, they could redeem a scoop of ice-cream from the lobby café. And the ice-cream was refreshing, especially in the hot Bangkok weather.
Huge & Well-Equipped Gym
Pathumwan Princess Hotel is a family-friendly hotel in every sense – We checked out their facilities and were wow-ed! The hotel’s gym is HUGE and equipped with many equipment, and with its own check-in counter. They even have a dedicated indoor cycling studio for spinning classes! It has got to be the biggest hotel gym I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely comparable to outside gyms with memberships.
Reading Room!
So nice to have such a room in the hotel, complete with comfortable seats for reading and shelves of books and magazines to choose from. The space was not big, but very cosy. It’s definitely a book lover’s retreat.
Large Swimming Pool & Hot Jacuzzi Tubs!
This was what drove my kids crazy because they absolutely love swimming!
I enjoyed the hot tub so much that I didn’t want to leave. The water was perpetually hot and bubbling – Such a luxury! It was as if I was at a hot spring resort!
Daily Breakfast!
As part of the Family Vacation Plus Package at Pathumwan Princess Hotel, you will be able to enjoy complimentary daily breakfast at Citi Bistro. The food was delicious, and their selection of breads and pastries was good! Anyway, hotel breakfast anytime is good. Holidays should come with those!
