Eye Level Jurong West: One Year On & Its Progress

Advertorial

About a year ago, I did an advertorial on Eye Level Learning Centre at Jurong West, which was then newly opened. I remembered that was the first time I learnt about this concept of learning and was pretty impressed with it. I always believe that children learn best at their own level, and there is no one formula that works for every one. At Eye Level, that’s exactly what they believe in too. Their unique curriculum first identifies which level the child is at, before starting them on a learning journey that is customized and thus most suitable for them. What Eye Level aims to do is to help every child improve and excel from their current level, and not throw them into a class and force them to learn at a specific speed and level. Most importantly, this system allows the weaker children to gain more confidence along the way and learn at a pace that is comfortable, and thus beneficial, for them. On the other end of the spectrum, if your child is gifted in learning and can absorb at a rate that is faster than other children in the same age group, this system would allow them to learn together with possibly older children, and learn more effectively in that sense. Enrichment is not just for the weaker students to catch up, it is also for the already good students to excel and achieve even more. That’s the beauty of Eye Level’s system.

So one year on, how has Eye Level Jurong West been doing? From the report I’ve been given, it seems that they have been doing really well! From 1 teacher when they first begun, they now have 4 teachers, a Centre Assistant along with the Centre Manager. From first month sign-up of 44 subjects, the Centre has grown to near 180 subjects now, making it the fastest growing Centre in the franchise. New subjects such as English Sparks (Phonics), English Blended (online learning for English) & Math Online have also been added to the curriculum. Students now have access to a more established library and there are also birthday presents given to every student, to celebrate together with them. Because of their rapid growth, Eye Level Jurong West has also expanded with two new branches within the year - Eye Level Kovan & Eye Level Upper Thomson, thus catering to a much bigger group of students in more locations now. That’s amazing!

How do you know whether an Enrichment Centre is doing really well in terms of performance and result-delivery? You look at the number of awards they’ve received, of course! While awards are not the ultimate goals of an Enrichment Centre, they are forms of recognition for the good work that’s being done. In just over a year, they won the following awards. What a feat:

  • Excellence Awards in 2014
  • Top Centre Awards in 2015
  • Best Class Flow Awards in 2015

So, exactly why do you need to enrol your child into one of Eye Level Learning Centres?

1. Your child needs individualized instruction to learn better.

There is nothing wrong if your child is just slower in learning, and needs more time to be coached. Every child learns at a different pace, and Eye Level knows that very well. The teachers at the Centre are equipped to get through to the children at their level, so even those diagnosed with ADHD would be given an environment in which they can learn and thrive in. Eye Level can also cater to students who have higher IQs or faster than others (not only those who are slow), compared to tuition centres, whereby they teach according to age groups.

2. You want to give your child a friendly and happy learning environment.

Because there is no pressure to meet expectations or perform at a level they are not comfortable with, the children would most likely enjoy learning at Eye Level Learning Centre. Competitiveness in schools cannot be avoided, but at least when the children attend classes at Eye Level Learning Centre, they know that they are assessed based on their current capability and level. The teachers are trained to help the children maximize their potential at the level where they are at. That’s really important.

I especially like Eye Level Learning Centre at Jurong West. The Centre is painted in bright colours, vibrant and cheerful-looking. That certainly aids in the learning process as well because the children would feel liberated and happy during the class!

3. You can be assured of constant feedback from the teachers about your children’s progress.

Constant feedback and partnership with the parents is what Eye Level Learning Centres strive to do. Knowledge is power, and with the knowledge comes the ability to make good decisions. The Centre would work together with parents to help the children progress on in their levels and strive to achieve more by the end of every term.
