It is an open secret that my family loves durians – There is just this invisible force that draws us to this fruit and we crave for it all the time. Thankfully for durian-loving friends around us, durian feasting has become quite an enjoyable social gathering for us in recent years. Last night, when a huge stash of durians arrived at our doorsteps from Durian Delivery Singapore, we found out who are our neighbors who love durians like us too! =P
We always have our durians at the durian stalls, but to enjoy them in the comfort of our home in our PJs – That’s a first. And I tremendously enjoyed it because I get to indulge in my favorite fruit comfortably without a care in the world for my image when I dig into the durians greedily. That’s the charm of home food delivery – It’s convenient, cosy and somehow makes the food tastier!
Love it that our durians were delivered in vacuum-packed boxes like these! Our family enjoyed a few boxes after dinner, distributed some to our durian-loving neighbors, and stored the rest in our fridge for the next few days! I was absolutely amazed that there was no smell at all, until we opened the vacuum packing, that is. We had XO, Mao Shan Wang and Hand-Picked Royal Old Tree MSW Durian delivered to us, and each has a unique taste!
My personal favorite was the Hand-Picked Royal Old Tree MSW Durian – It was so fleshy and has a rich, robust and sweet taste to it – Extremely satisfying! What differentiates them from the usual Mao Shan Wang is the kind of curation it goes through – from cultivation to the plucking, every piece is carefully selected with care and precision! The Mao Shan Wang did not disappoint as well, of course – Always bitter-sweet! The XO durians were a good contrast in terms of taste, I feel – A little alcoholic aftertaste paired with creamy sweetness – LOVE!
Durian Delivery Singapore is a new start-up in Singapore by a bunch of durian lovers, and I think they totally score at this game because they have their own plantations! That means the durians delivered to you come straight from the plantations after being plucked, within 6-12 hours. Unarguably, their freshness is guaranteed and therefore, makes them one of the best in Singapore. Their dedicated fleet from Malaysia are made up of drivers who have been trained to pick up durians and speed down to Singapore from plantation to their packing area in Singapore with no other stops in between. Furthermore, while most durian companies try to cut costs by using motorcycles to deliver durians, Durian Delivery Singapore does not practise that. Their rationale is that by doing so, the durians are exposed to the hot afternoon air, causing them to oxidate and ripen extremely quickly – Turning them watery and bad condition. The back of motorbikes are also prone to extreme gyrations and vibrations, and the durians might be damaged. Therefore, all their durians are delivered only in air-conditioned vehicles. Only in extreme circumstances will they allow durians to be transported in motorcycles in cool, iced boxes made specially for transportation.
Ordering your durians is easy – Just select what you want, select your delivery slot, make payment and that’s it! Do note that their cut-off time for all next day orders is 6pm, but they are working on their processes to make same-day delivery possible soon. If you are a frequent durian eater, you would find that the prices offered by Durian Delivery Singapore is slightly higher, but if you consider the convenience and luxury of having fresh premium durians delivered to you, it is a worthwhile investment. Plus, this is a great idea for a big gathering if you are inviting friends over – Having to haul a load of durians home from the stall by yourself is no joking business!
