Media Tasting
I never knew that such a pretty Irish pub exists at Clarke Quay, and I am so glad I now do. :) It was near Christmas season when we visited Mcgettigan’s Singapore for a media tasting and I super love the ambience – Christmas decorations, festive music playing in the air and the service staff were all smiley and happy when serving us. And I must rave about the food – Everything tasted SO GOOD!
It was pretty impressive to know that an Irish pub even has a kids’ menu! Thumbs up!
The kids were spoilt for choice, obviously and took a long time to decide what they should order!
We had cocktails, beer, several starters followed by the main courses. The starters were fabulously done, especially the Thai Beef Salad – That’s a must-order! The Cream of Mushroom Soup was a thick chowder chockful of mushrooms. Superb!
The Mcgettigan’s Chicken Wings were so well done as well – Sweet, tangy & spicy with a slight crispiness. Love it!
And this was a really pleasant surprise – The Thai Crunchy Salad was such a good balance of garlic, chilli, ginger, Thai mixed vegetables & a Thai vinaigrette. You can opt to add prawns or beef, and we added the latter – The juicy beef steak slices were awesome with a slight charred taste & fragrance! So appetizing and yummy!
The mains were equally palatable. The husband ordered an 8oz Angus Sirloin and it came with a Portobello mushroom (which was delicious!), confit tomato, tobacco onions and triple cooked chips. A choice of garlic butter or peppercorn sauce was available. Super yums – The steak was so tender!
My main course was the Chicken Breast, one of the recommendations by the staff, and it was so tender, juicy and savoury. Wrapped in streaky bacon and stuffed with sage & onions, this was such a tummy pleaser. The mashed potatoes that came with it was good as well.
The kids had Fish & Chips, and Fettuccine with broccoli, pine nuts, truffle oil shallots and parmesan. The portions were generous!
We had such a good time just chit-chatting while enjoying our drinks and food in the beautiful restaurant, when their in-house performer started singing. It couldn’t get any better!
I’d certainly be back again because the food and ambience totally won me over. It’s such a great place for gatherings with family and friends! They even have a Malt Room, which is a private dining room with its own bar that can take 100+ people. Perfect for company events and gatherings!
