The Terrible Two Standard Protocol: SCREAM!!

For those of us who have experienced the Terrible Two stage would more or less know what to expect.

It is as if all babies had gone through an Orientation course of some sort entitled, “How to (mis)behave during the Terrible Two” – They all behave in the same way!

And so, like the title goes, Baby Jayne has started exhibiting the very first standard behaviour of the Terrible Two stage, and that’s SCREAMING. As long as something doesn’t go her way or the way she wants it to, she screams. Sometimes it’s an emotional kind of scream. Other times, it’s more of a reflex – Her face remains motionless as she screams.

And thus begins the ‘I-refuse-to-share-my-toy’ stage as well. When we are in the church nursery nowadays, I’ve got to watch her very carefully lest she sees a toy she likes and attempts to snatch it away from the poor innocent baby who’s fiddling with it.

IMG_7455

When she’s in a good mood, she might offer to share her toy with another kid nearby. But when she’s in one of those moods, she would hoard the toy she’s playing with. Anyone who tries to take it away from her will invite the screaming immediately.

IMG_7456

But thankfully, even though she may be in this kind of state now, she is not beyond reason. I saw how she saw a kid playing with a toy she wants, so she brought another toy to trade with that kid in order to get the toy she wanted. (Not that she gave that kid a choice =P)

IMG_7457

Now that I’ve got a kid who’s out of the Terrible Two, I really anticipate the day when Baby Jayne is out of it too! I know that life will be a lot better by then! Haha!

Our Last Service @ JW Nursery

As at today, we’re only 3 days away from our big shift to Suntec City! =D

These are exciting times beyond measure, and every step of the way felt so unreal! God’s blessings and faithfulness is simply amazing.

The kids had lots of fun at our last service in our Jurong West church building last Sunday! =)

IMG_6015

With Reuel! What a very rare moment when both of them were sitting quietly side by side!

IMG_6018

The rest of the time, they were just running everywhere playing with the toys! The nursery is such a fun place with lots of fun and interesting toys and cars. Kudos to the nursery team!

IMG_6028

Baby Justin was there too and he too had a great time!

IMG_6036

Look at him smiling cheekily at me when I tried to take his photo! Charming. =)

IMG_6045

IMG_6038

What I really, really love about JW Nursery is that it’s located right at the back of the main auditorium, where the service takes place! You’ll feel like you didn’t miss out much on not being able to attend the service because you see and hear everything that’s happening in the main hall. =)

IMG_6051

The children can also participate in the praise and worship, and run off to continue playing with their toys when their attention span runs out. =)

It’s going to be a brand new day for City Harvest Church when we shift to Suntec City! So looking forward to greater things to come!!!! =D

Morning Soul Time

My kids are blessed to be able to grow up in a nursery with a magnificent view.

IMG_1879

On some mornings when I’m very early, Jayne and I would spend our time sitting by the window looking at the cars, the Suntec fountain and talk about life. It’s actually quite therapeutic. :)

IMG_1882

I dare say Baby Jayne enjoys such soul time with Mummy.

IMG_1866

The strange thing is even though I’m pretty sure she doesn’t understand a word I say now, she actually ‘looks’ like she understands a lot. The way she looks at me when I talk seems as if she is thinking and digesting what I’m saying.

IMG_1869

And that’s really the reason why I keep talking to her even though she doesn’t respond half the time. You never know what she’s picking up!

IMG_1872

And it warms my heart that she will give a smile even though she may not fully comprehend. =)

IMG_1873

And of course, there’re times she behaves as if she has some sensible advice to dish out to me. If only I can decipher her ‘blah blah and woo woo-s’.

IMG_1893

I was pretty bored that morning as you can see. I decided to shoot through the hole in my camera bag.

IMG_1884

Pretty cool! =D

Morning soul times give me strength for the rest of the day. =

Every Morning Is Jayne Time

Virtue of the fact that I am one of the key-holders of the office and usually one of the first few to reach office every morning, Baby Jayne pretty much has a personal private nursery for about 30 minutes everyday.

The nursery was such a familiar place to her that she knows exactly where to go to get what she wants. Let me show some of her favourite spots today. All in the TV & Play room. =)

One of her most favourite has got to be the drawers that stores the kids’ diapers. Drawers have an unexplainable grasp on kids, I wonder why?? They NEED to open every drawer they come across. =.=

IMG_1238

Alright. She looks surprised but she’s not at all surprised because she knows exactly what’s in there. Sigh, my drama queen.

IMG_1242

Another of her favourite things to touch is definitely the toy basket.

IMG_1244

The basket is collapsible so that kids can easily pull stuffs out of it.

IMG_1245

But sometimes she gets frustrated because her arms are too short to reach deep enough to the bottom of the basket. Ha!

IMG_1250

Guess what she was trying to dig out?

IMG_1251

I don’t know why she likes this plastic Mac’Donalds toy so much.

IMG_1252

She even talks to him. =.= Very weird.

IMG_1257

And, she adores soft toys!!!

IMG_1266

Especially the big cuddly ones!

IMG_1254

She adoringly calls him ‘Bear Bear’. =D

IMG_1256

That’s how we spend our mornings everyday!

Girls And Their Friends

It’s interesting to observe little friendships blossoming. :)

Baby Jayne has a little friend in the office nursery and her name is Nadine. Nadine is the sweetest & most gentle girl I’ve ever met, quite different from hyperactive Jayne, if you know what I mean. :)

IMG_0518

And in a nursery environment where there’re more boy toddlers than girl toddlers, a girl-friend is so important! They play together!

IMG_0524

Just in case you’re wondering, Baby Jayne was pressing her nose against Nadine’s hair – Her way of kissing her friend. =D

IMG_0519

So cute right, this pair of little friends? They readily sit side by side for me to take their photos!

IMG_0528

Ah… friends are so important in our lives, no matter whether we are 1, 10, 20, 50 or 100!

Happy Saturday! =D

She Got Promoted!

Yeap! I’ve promoted Baby Jayne from Nursery 1 & 2 to Nursery 3, where all the big and cool kiddos are!

Nursery 3 is a lot more fun for toddlers actually. Nurseries 1 and 2 are often packed with beddings mostly for babies and toddlers have nothing much to do inside. Bored toddlers are a big no-no for mummies! They literally drive us up the walls! So, I enthusiastically shifted Baby Jayne to where all the fun is. =)

IMG_9840

She could play with the door of the dollhouse a thousand times and not get bored. =)

IMG_9823

IMG_9825

IMG_9830

And the push car is one her favorites too. Guess it provides her with a lot of security during this learn-to-walk phase.

IMG_9834

IMG_9837

IMG_9838

She’s still pretty much in a self-centred phase now. She won’t play with other kids, and won’t bother to snatch & fight with them yet. Pretty peaceable still. =)

IMG_9843

IMG_9846

Peek-a-boo!

IMG_9863

The helpers in Nursery 3 will watch over the kids and play with them, so I managed to sit through most of the service watching on a big projector screen. Life’s getting better & better! =D

By the way, it was also an exciting weekend for Joey last week because…

SHE RECEIVED HER FIRST EVER CHILDREN CHURCH MEMBERSHIP CARD!

IMG_9817

Now, she is a true blue proud member of City Harvest Children Church! =D

IMG_9818

Oh, happy day! =D
