Staycations In Singapore: Park Regis Hotel

A couple of weeks back, we had a staycation at Park Regis Hotel and had great family time together. It has been a year of many important events, especially with the elder girl taking her PSLE, receiving her results and then posting to Secondary School, so we were just glad to spend a relaxing 2D1N at Park Regis Hotel. It’s conveniently located across the road from Central Mall and Clarke Quay MRT station on Merchant Road, so if you are planning to hang out late, this hotel’s great!

Our room was the Regis Room – one of the biggest rooms they have (and recommended as a Family Room as well) and we love it that it’s spacious (with a separate dining area!) and the great view from the room. Let’s check out the room!

The layout of the room was a little unique – You walk in to a dining area with a small table and two chairs. The hotel very kindly prepared a bottle of wine for us as well because the staycation was meant to be an early birthday celebration for the husband’s birthday. What a nice gesture!

The kids looked more thrilled than us though. =P

As we walked further into the room, there was the shower room and toilet, in separate cubicles and the wash basin & vanity counter in front of that.

The bed was a huge king-sized bed with really soft pillows!

The hotel added an additional bed for us in the room and it was still spacious enough to walk around. The window area also had a sofa lounge space and we could see the swimming pool from there.

Room also came equipped with Nespresso machine and capsules, much to our delight of course.

We were on the Stay Well Package, and were given the Play Pass coupons which gave us two hours of float rental at the swimming pool, unlimited scooter & bicycle rentals, as well as discounts at entertainment outlets & some F&B!

Exploring the area on bikes & e-scooters should be very interesting – What a great facility provided by the hotel!

The kids wasted no time in getting to the swimming pool after lunch and had so much fun with their pizza and flamingo floats! Made great and colourful photos too!

There are so many good restaurants & cafes nearby Park Regis Hotel that you’ll be spoilt for choice. We settled dinner that evening at Mcgettigans at Clarke Quay, and the food was superb! That’d be in another post. :)

The next morning, we woke up bright and early for the hotel buffet breakfast! Good variety and you can eat your fill! =D

A staycation always does my soul good. I especially love a hotel that’s conveniently located near many food places. Park Regis Hotel is nearby to Chinatown area as well, so we took a short stroll over to Chinatown Point for cheap and good food. There’s also many shopping areas nearby. Family Fun Staycation Package At Shangri-La Hotel

Staycation at our all-time favorite hotel is pure happiness! And with their new Family Fun package which comes with complimentary entry to the spanking new BUDS indoor and outdoor play areas for your kids and sumptuous buffet meals for the whole family, it’s really hard to resist!

Shangri-La Hotel’s newly renovated family rooms and themed suites are really amazing, so if you are looking for a family staycation option, this is the best time to book them! I wish we got a chance to stay in their gorgeous themed suite, but they are already fully booked all the way till May! Family Deluxe Rooms

So, we got our staycation at one of the new Family Deluxe Rooms and loved it anyway! Apart from the large king-sized bed, there was a day bed near the window, which the hotel will set up for the kids to sleep on at night.

The kids hopped right onto the day bed the moment they saw it! Well, they are not exactly that tired – They are just drama queens like me! LOL.

You can always expect top-notched quality at Shangri-La Hotel. Love the fittings and furnishings – Comfortable stay guaranteed!

Special Pantry For Families

The new family rooms are all located on the same level in Tower Wing of the hotel, and on this level is a special pantry well-stocked with everything families with kids would need. I thought this was a really nice touch by the hotel but I was even more amazed at what was inside the pantry! There were washing machines, steam press machine, bottle disinfectant, hot water dispenser, etc.

Also available for use are strollers, high chairs, sterilizers, diapers, safety fences and toys for babies and kids – all complimentary for use by guests staying in the family rooms. The strollers and high-chairs are from Stokke which is a high-end brand for baby products - Shangri-La Hotel really spares no cost at providing the best for their guests!

BUDS Playground

Shangri-La Hotel’s brand new playground – BUDS – is literally a haven for kids! The moment my kids entered, I lost them, no kidding. But who can blame them? Even I feel like running in myself! Guests staying in the Family Rooms are given complimentary entry into BUDS, but the playground is also accessible by other hotel guests and non-guests with a fee.

Don’t underestimate this playground within a hotel – It’s a huge area comprising of slides, climbing structures, sandpit, trampoline, activity rooms, party rooms, cafe, ball pits, shooting areas etc. It’s probably the best indoor playground I’ve seen in a hotel and it even surpasses many indoor playgrounds outside!

There is a separate area for toddlers so that they can play safely even when there are older (and usually rougher) kids running around.

Love this music room they have inside the playground. The kids can do a song & dance performance inside the studio – Sounds like perfect for Jayne! She probably wants to have such a studio installed in our house. =P

The BUDS playground also functions like a usual Kids’ Club in hotels and resorts, so there are art & craft and special programmes planned throughout the day. Some of the programmes take place in this amazing baking studio right outside the playground. All the mini baking equipment and tools look so adorable!

Buffet Dinner Time!

A staycation is made complete by delicious meals and Shangri-La Hotel knows that, so they’ve include dinner buffet at The Line (for 2 adults and 2 children below 6yo)! Rejoice, people!

When we were there, we were arranged to try the other restaurant in the hotel which is located by the pool and we had a great time too! It’s ala carte ordering here and so happens, the Italian chef’s parents were in town and cooked for the guests!

We had superb Italian dishes and everything was so yummy! Plus, we always enjoy dining by the poolside during the evenings – Such a luxury!

Sumptuous Breakfast Spread

Also included in the Family Fun Package is daily buffet buffet for 2 adults and 2 kids (below 6yo) at The Line. Don’t we all LOVE sumptuous buffet breakfasts??! Nothing beats having a leisurely and relaxed breakfast during a vacation!

We love staycations because we could relax and rejuvenate as a family doing virtually nothing much – That’s a luxury for Singaporeans who have hectic and busy lives most of the time. The kids love swimming and staycations are when I let them swim as long as they want! The hotel prepared little green towel bathrobes for them too – So cute!

 

We also love spending time in the hotel’s Club Lounge. Shangri-La’s Club Lounge is awesome with great service staff who are always hospitable and friendly. Plus, they serve great food at various times of the day and we can always hang out there for drinks any time of the day. That is the reason why I always say it’s worthwhile to pay more for lounge access during a staycation. :)

If you are planning for a quick getaway without getting out of the country or being away for too long, a staycation is your best option and Shangri-La Hotel is one of the best choices you can make. Their Family Fun package encompasses the following:
