Finally, a wrap-up for our family vacation to Bali. =) If you’ve never been to Bali before, you might be wondering whether it is a kids-friendly holiday destination. The answer is a BIG FAT YES!
But I like Bali so much that I think it’s just as suitable a holiday destination for honeymooners, young people, old folks all alike! There is something very tranquil and peaceful in Bali, which is totally ironic if you ask me. Kuta Beach was the exact location where the terrorist bombings happened. It was an icon of fear and unrest. Yet today if you step onto the shores of Kuta, you find such peacefulness and calm everywhere.
Ask my kids and they’d tell you they want to go back to Bali again. =) That ought to say alot about how much they enjoyed themselves there. We didn’t do that many things during the 4 days we were there, but they did a lot of sandplay and waterplay, which they enjoyed thoroughly.
On our 2nd night at Bali, at the end of a very long day of sight-seeing, we had a quiet dinner on the beautiful beach. The kids were not interested in dinner. They spent the entire time playing with the sand. Papa Isaiah and I watched the sunset, the people on the beach and the beautiful girls as we had our grilled seafood dinner. It was sheer bliss.
The next morning, the 1st thing we did was to head to the beach and let the kids play with the sand. The whole beach was virtually empty. We kinda owned the whole beach during that hour. It’ll be somewhat like that when one day, I’m rich enough to buy an island for my kids to play on.
I had such a great time with the girls that morning. We attempted to build sandcastles, water trenches, chased the waves and ran away from them. It was precious.
And there was no way I was going to leave the beach without leaving a mark behind. =P
Apart from sandplay, the girls did mostly swimming. Or rather Joey did. The swimming pool water was freezing cold so Jayne and I dared not enter at all. But Joey was not scared AT ALL. I think she’d do so well should girls need to serve National Service one day.
So yes, Baby Jayne spent all her time at the pool sitting on the ledge like this, watching her sister splatter in the pool. Joey even made friends with other tourists. =)
On one of the days, we made friends with the staff doing housekeeping for our room. He was a very nice chap who enjoyed chatting with the kids, as with most of the staff at the hotel.
He demonstrated how to fold towels into different animals! My girls were intrigued by him! =D
All in all, my entire family had a great time at Bali, and I do think it’s a great holiday destination for families with children. =) Most hotels there have children playground/ facilities like the one below, so even if you don’t go anywhere, your kids can be entertained too. The people we met over there were all warm and hospitable, and made us feel very well taken care of. It was one great holiday! =)
As a finale to my Bali holiday series, here is a GIVEAWAY to one of you! This is something I bought at one of the street stalls in Bali:
