I’ve been to Istana when I was still working with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Did some emcee-ing at a ceremony held there, and had the honour to meet up with President Nathan himself. That was close to ten years ago!
This time round, I decided to bring my girls to Istana’s Open House Day because they’ve never been inside before. It seemed that every Singaporean wanted to be there. LOL!
After having breakfast at Mc’donalds, we joined the queue to go into Istana. Thank goodness we didn’t have to queue for long even though it stretched all the way till the MRT station. It moved pretty fast.
I bought mini National flag umbrellas for the girls from a makeshift stall outside the Istana. They were so cute, only $2 each!
The foreigners had a separate queue from the citizens. Theirs looked horrendously long……
Everyone had to go through a security check at the entrance and allow our bags to go through X-ray scans. My mother-in-law forgot she had a pair of scissors in her bag and had to throw it away. =.=
Check out the BIG VAST green field! So many families were having picnics and just sitting around relaxing on the fields. It was sunny and gloriously hot!
The girls of course had loads of fun running around…
Met our friends in Istana! It must have been fate that drew us together to meet in such a big place!
And I made them do the jump together. LOL!
I think I like the Istana! Such big fields of green make me feel very happy and energised! =D
More on the inside of Istana in my next post! =D
