The best part about going on a holiday without the kids is that we can do whatever we want at anytime of the day. We can leave the TV on loud and clear in the hotel room, even at 2am in the morning, walk out for supper anytime we want, shop and walk non-stop and of course, take the tu-tu in Bangkok! Taking cabs everywhere may be comfortable and convenient, but taking a tu-tu ride is a special experience that everyone should go for when in Bangkok. The drivers are literally hell-drivers! They speed and wriggle their way through the heavy Bangkok traffic, even taking shortcut routes at times to avoid the almost=not-moving traffic jam. I was holding on to my dear life every minute! =P
The fashion in Bangkok may not be fantastic, but we could still find nice stuffs to buy. As we stayed opposite the mega fashion mall, Platinum Mall, we spent so much time shopping there. You can’t blame us – The mall is classified into different zones, and every zone has about 6-8 storeys, each storey categorised into different types of fashion – Female clothes, male clothes, shoes, bags, children’s clothes etc. It was awesome basically.
It’s a wholesale mall, so you can see many people lugging luggages in this place to purchase the stocks for their shops. As long as you purchase two pieces and above, you will be charged at wholesale prices. =)
Another mall we went to is the IT Mall, just located down the road from Platinum Mall. It’s like our Sim Lim Square, except much bigger! You can find all things gadget and electronic there!
I felt giddy just looking at this…
… so I decided to retreat to A&W to have a bite while waiting for hubby to buy his camera bag. It turned out to be a lovely surprise!
Love their A&W root beer. So yummy! And check out the waffles in a cup that I bought as well. It’s basically their version of takeaway waffles with ice-cream, and I thought it was such an ingenious idea.
Cut waffles with two scoops of vanilla ice-cream, drenched with chocolate fudge! It was YUMS!
Outside the mall, we spotted a kebab truck, and went for it immediately! We both love kebabs. =D
It was very delicious. Street food in Bangkok rocks!
On our last night in Bangkok, we visited Patpong Night Market, which is a very ‘happening’ night market to visit. Unlike Khao San, Patpong is a night market with lots of night clubs and entertainment outlets that lined the roads. Everywhere you went, there would be people trying their best to drag you in for the special performances and shows. You can hear loud music with bright neon lights, and the main performances were pole-dancing, striptease dancing, performances by transvestites etc. Definitely not stuffs you can catch in Singapore. =P We didn’t go for any of the performances or shows, but the whole atmosphere at Patpong Night Market was pretty fun and rowdy, and quite an experience. =)
Oh yes, the coffee place we frequented the most in Bangkok was the Black Canyon Coffee. It served super duper awesome Thai Milk Tea!!! All the coffees and teas they offered were thick and aromatic, and they kept us going even after hours of walking and shopping.
On our last day in Bangkok (our flight was late at night), we went walking around the streets of Bangkok and taking photographs. Really nice to spend quality time with hubby. =)
Thank you Bangkok for a lovely time! =D Goodbye!
