Our Family Staycation At Rasa Sentosa

Sponsored Review

During the recent Vesak Day public holiday, we’ve had the chance to stay over at Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa and I have to say it was one of the best we’ve had so far.

I went with the expectation that service will be impeccable – a Shangri-La hotel always promises style and service, as what we’ve experienced previously – but at the end of the staycation, I was more won over by how family-friendly the whole hotel was. For an establishment as big as they are, I was impressed by the attention they give to little details that make a whole big difference for the guests, especially those with kids. If you are planning a family vacation on Sentosa and considering which hotel to stay at, I’d strongly recommend Rasa Sentosa. There are many reasons why we enjoyed our staycation, and here are some of them:

- Beautiful Furnishings -

The hotel is beautifully-furnished to give a cosy yet elegant feel. The lobby’s huge and you walk in with the sea breeze blowing right into your face.

Our room’s huge and spacious, and it is suitable for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Apart from the king-sized bed, there is a sofa bed which can be converted into a comfortable bed for the kids. Joey & Jayne loved it!

I always like bathrooms with bath tub and separate shower area. :)

I spent some quiet time here on the balcony overlooking the swimming pool and the sea in the distance, while everyone else was napping in the afternoon. Such a therapeutic thing to do.

The view from the balcony where I was – So relaxing.

Love it that the first round of the mini bar items are complimentary. That’s the first question my kids always ask me when we step into a hotel room - “Mummy, can we eat these??”. This time round, I could say YES!

- Value-Added Services -

The one thing that impressed me most about Rasa Sentosa was the facilities they provide, with families in mind. There is a 24-hour washing machine and ice & water dispenser available for guests to use. For a small fee, guests can make use of the washing machine to wash their children’s clothes anytime of the day. Of course, the usual laundry service is still provided by the resort, but this self-operated washing machine is a more flexible and affordable option for families.

The gym operates 24 hours and can be accessed free-of-charge by all guests at any time of the day. It’s well-equipped, clean and faces nice greenery.

For those who wish to relax with a spa or massage, the Chi Spa at Rasa Sentosa would be able to meet your needs. Go for a couple spa, jacuzzi or even an outdoor massage – Relaxing to the max!

Did you know that Rasa Sentosa also has facilities to take care of guests who have checked out of their rooms but are still waiting for their flight time, etc? In the Refresh Room in the resort, guests can take a shower and freshen up themselves, then relax in the lounge furnished with coffee machine, internet stations, books, newspapers and TV. Even though we had no flight to wait for, we couldn’t resist spending some time inside the lounge after we checked out. =P

- Amazing Facilities For Kids -

Parents would be thrilled to know that there is a Kids’ Club at the resort, provided for all kids. Very similar to the Club Med concept, kids can participate in a series of activities at the Kids’ Club for the entire day, with all meals provided complimentary! That was a super ‘WOW’ factor, I think! Many resorts have Kids’ Clubs, but one that is provided at no charge, with a full-day planned program and with all meals provided? I say this is a first for me. I was extremely impressed with this service!

Kids can do art and craft, watch cartoons, read storybooks and make friends with the other kids. There is even a three-storey treehouse inside the Kids’ Club! For a facility that is provided complimentary, this is a solid one!

The swimming pool is another favorite place in the resort for the kids, and it’s not hard to understand why. There’s a water playground, a shallow pool with three slides and the main pool also has shallow sessions for the whole family to play safe and have fun together.

And yep, this being Sentosa meant that the kids get to meet interesting animals all the time. A peacock wandered into the swimming pool area and the kids had so much fun following it around. =P

The kids also had fun on the private beach at Rasa Sentosa – Love it that it’s not crowded with people like the rest of Sentosa’s beaches, and it’s clean with really soft sand. It’s like a paradise.

While the buffet breakfast was sumptuous at the hotel, I was more impressed with the fact that there was a kids’ corner at the buffet line, with kid-friendly food items provided for the kids ‘at their level’. The kids could pick up items from the buffet line themselves and even dispense iced Milo and juices. It’s absolutely cheap thrill for the kids.

- Glorious Food -

Buffet breakfast is what I look forward to at every staycation, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. :) The breakfast selection at Rasa Sentosa is amazing! There were American, Japanese, Chinese, Indian cuisines, and the usual egg station, noodle station and fruits etc. I didn’t manage to try everything but just looking at everything made me really happy. =P

What a happy staycation we had. Love the experience! Thank you Rasa Sentosa for making us feel so pampered and loved! :)
